Hello everyone, we are so happy to be apart of such a great group. My name is Alicia and my husbands name is Driss. I guess i never realized what a huge deal immigration was until now im involved in it. My husband and I are at the veeeeeeeeerrry beginning of this process (still filling out the forms lol) and these rules are already breaking our minds lol. I would like to be as prepared for this process as I possibly can be. Is there anything Him and I can be doing in the meantime (after i mail in I-130) to be prepared and have ready to save time? Any suggestions will be soo greatly appreciated :D :D

Read the VisaJourney guides and flowcharts, they will walk you step-by-step through the process. Good luck!

Moving to the CR-1 Process and Procedures forum... you're not at the embassy stage yet! :)

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.

My $0.02 is to go for a IR1/CR1 rather than the K3. It might be a month or two longer in processing time however financially its less expensive and less time consuming. Also, when you you send the K3 documentation, your I-130 gets pulled out (loses it place in queue) and then put back in. So you kinda lose time there initially.

Get organized on financials. And police certificates. And start compiling evidence. And vaccination records.

Good luck on your visa journey.

Get started on just having the forms filled out. Don't date or sign them but have them ready... Understand what each form requires as proof and always make sure to make copies of what you send in.

My advice... don't waste your time on the K3. It will only save you a few weeks and in the end once your husband is here will be more hassle than it was worth. Go with the CR-1 as is provides many more benefits for the immigrant.

Don't start getting police certificates yet, they're easy to obtain in Morocco and I believe they expire. So don't worry about that. I would make sure he is up to date on his vaccinations and see if he can get record of them from his doctor. Make sure you read the guides!!!! Also, the Ling Che shortcut is amazing once you're off to the NVC.

Don't wait to ask questions.. if you're unsure ask right away, everyone here has either been through this or is going through this and is willing to help, but you've gotta make sure that you can give people enough time to help.

Start printing out your proof... DO NOT keep all the information on your computer.. we've seen horror stories of computers crashing and all the evidence being lost.

Last but not least, realize this is Casablanca... though it may not be the worst out there, it can be tough. If you're well prepared you can make it a lot easier on yourself. Your husband needs to be prepared for trick questions and for answering pretty much anything about you, so might not be a bad idea to read the sample questions and have him start practicing. I had my husband practice with a friend so that it was more like an interview rather than his wife helping him :)

Welcome to VJ!

Go for the CR-1, The K3 is for the rich and now takes longer according to unofficial figures.

Like everyone else, I vouch for the CR/IR1 application. It's a better VISA, and your husband would become a permanent resident at POE and he'd be able to work right away. As well, he would not have to file for AOS/Adjustment of Status.

And in the meantime you should, COLLECT EVIDENCE. :D

E-mails, letters, presents, pictures together. Go wild. You can never have too much evidence.
