Millions worldwide want to switch Countries

Have a look at the majority of spouses on VJ. Which countries are they coming from? Of course, for them the US is the best thing since slice bread. However, for someone from industrialized Europe, industrialized Asia, Canada or Australia, it's extremely average at best. This is what you confuse as bashing or hating the US. Not true. Hence the car example. Aesthetically the US is a 1987 F150.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Billions world wide want to stay where they are.

Good point. That would lead me to the conclusion that the majority of people are happy where there are. I can only think of one off the top of my head who is not.

Some of us have high standards, others do not.

If I read you correctly you seem to be saying that you have the same standards as 2nd and 3rd world immigrants who want to move to the US.

He's not saying that at all. He doesn't want to be here. He HAS high standards, therefore why would he want to live here?

Now that's just confusing - cause he seemed to object to the idea that most people are happy where they are.

Yet he moved because he has "high standards" but hates the US and wants to move back. So why then are people who stay where they started guilty of having low standards.

Why don't the people here care about infrastructure, yet they do in other nations? What is important to society here that is not elsewhere?

Who knows? Maybe you are more interested in sport. Maybe people are more self-centered. Maybe repubs don't want to spend money actually investing on the country. Maybe Dems have spend the last 40 years chasing rights issues rather than actually improving the quality of life for Americans.

Certainly not Brits. Which other country has 5% of their population permanently living abroad?

I moved here for my spouse. Once my new town homes are built in Aus, I will be heading back.

Being the apparent envy of the world is clearly indoctrinated from birth for most here. What it comes down to is that Americans have a real hard time trying to fathom that others are doing things better than them. That it is no longer the country that lays the golden egg. Therefore, many here seem to ignore this and challenge anyone who brings light to this new reality.

Maybe people in parts of the US with better infrastrcuture are more involved with local government.

Which parts are they?

I think its weird that you spend so much time slagging off the US, and you do it at the slightest possible opportunity.

Well where I used to live in CA for one.

Contrary to what you might believe New Jersey isn't solely defined by Newark and Elizabeth.

CA has modern efficient infrastructure and transportation does it? Not the last time I visited and drove there.

You're only interested in your own preconceptions, BY.

Perception of what? Or are you too going to pull a Scandal and claim US cities are on par with their international rivals?

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

Where I lived in CA was a lot nicer (and a lot safer) than many parts of the UK.
