Thank you all for you helpful input based upon knowledge and experience. A couple of more questions.

1. Should I ask my boss to sign more than one copy of the letter (i. e., will each copy have to have an original signature or are photocopies OK?)

2. It seems that the question about life insurance might even be relevant to those with sufficient income, since it is hard to continue to earn money once one is dead. Although I don't have any, my employeer offers a generous death benefit equal to three years' salary. Should I add a supplement to the I-134 to answer this question? Should I get a letter from my employer to prove my death benefit?

I look forward to your responses.

Ron

1. Rule of thumb, make all signatures original if you can, not photocopied.

2. You can list it, but if your income is sufficient, you do not need to list it.

Hi all, my fiance is in Peru and we are trying to figure out supporting docs for the I 134. Do the letters from the bank and my employer need to be notarized? Thanks!

I didn't notarize my employer letter. (plus, in the instructions, it does not state they need to be notarized.)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS
