My father is my co sponsor for my wife. He files jointly with my mother and they asked for an i864a for both my mother and father. My father and I both filled out i864.

Thanks

Sorry i don't understand, why would they ask for a I864A from you father if he filled out I 864? I can see that they would ask your mother for I 864a.

Because they filed jointly and both live at the same residence where we will be staying. I am not sure if it is required but the consular officer asked for it from us and was one of things requested in our 221G.

The I864A is like a joint contract and I think it may be needed if you are living with your joint sponsor but I am not positive.

no we do not live with joint sponsor, So I think my father will file I 864 and my mother will file I 864A. I hope that is right.

Well if I could go back I would have done both just to be sure.

You need an I864 for you and another for your co sponsor. I would also do both I864A's just be to be safe.
