Here's the update from my neck o' the woods:

We got married in the courthouse on Friday, a mere week after Ewan's arrival. We had to walk through a metal detector on entry, and take a number to wait for our ceremony. Three friends were in attendance (it's good that there weren't any more, because the room for the ceremony was TINY!). We waited about 45 minutes to be called, and then signed the paperwork and went to the room for the ceremony. It was short and sweet (5-10 minutes or so) which was good, because it didn't give me too much time to cry :). I was quite ill with a stomach bug the day before and the morning of the wedding, so my celebrating was curtailed a bit, but we had some cake and champagne (my friends surprised us with it) and then went out for a few pints and snacks at a local pub. Nice, quiet and chill. We're hoping to get together the AOS paperwork in the next few days (still waiting on our co-sponsor's [i.e. my dad] forms and my tax transcripts). But I'll let you know when we do, and start a thread for us to slowly transition to in the AOS forum.

Thanks to all of you - I couldn't have done it without my November family!!

P.S. I'll post some photos in a few minutes!

Good luck and let us know your progress.

Hopefully we'll have some more in June, when some of my Wisconsin friends and family come for a visit.

Awwww that is fabulous Meg, many congratulations :) so glad to see someone reach the end game for K1 at least!!!

Here's an update from my side. I am almost at spontaneous combustion point again.....

Got back from stateside yesterday and I rang the Embassy this morning at 8am on the dot. I was told that I hadn't been scheduled an interview date because I hadn't sent in my document checklist.

There is no way on this earth that I didn't send that checklist. Which means they've lost it.

I've emailed them and insisted I sent it in with the rest of my paperwork and asked them to advise a way forward (and mentioned that I now have 'travel dates for July' too). If they put me back at the bottom of the pile I'm going to be absolutely furious because this is not my fault and I do not want up to a 2 month delay added because I go to the bottom of the pile cos the Embassy are incompetent.

Way to kill my post-holiday mood in about 5 seconds flat :(

That is bad Miss Jess. What an incompetent consulate  ,as if the huge delay in assigning interveiw dates is not enough already!!!!

Is there a way you could scan and send them that one document if you got a copy of it with you?Or just download that one form and send it over again.

I hope you get your date real quick. Not done this way!

omg this is UNACCEPTABLE !!!!

what's wrong with the USEM? I guess they only hire relatives for this K1 visa process, this is ridiculous :bonk:

I hope you kept a copy of the checklist Jess, scan it and mail it back, to make sure they won't "misplace" it again.

I didn't unfortunately - stupidly it's the one thing I didn't keep a copy of - but I know exactly what I wrote on it and what dates I wrote and even what colour pen I used, so easy to replicate.

I've emailed to ask if I can submit electronically. Adviser on the phone said she'd put a note on my file saying that I would email about it.

The small silver lining is that I was only on the phone for 5 minutes, so it 'only' cost me 6 quid to establish the Embassy's total incompetency :bonk:

Some happy new to report...visa approved!! David said everything went very smoothly this morning, everyone he dealt with was really nice and he was in and out of the embassy in about an hour. We're both so relieved and happy to have this part of the process over. He probably won't move over till mid-June but it's nice to feel that there's nothing stopping him from coming over as soon as next week if we want!

We will write up a review in our timeline later today or tomorrow for those who are interested in the details.

Best of luck to all of you getting ready for your own interviews!

Congratulations
