Thanks, that is so kind. I am a bit worried now though, as the embassy kindly issued me an interview date without my police certificate - which I said I would have on time. Of course, I have still not gotten it, even though the given time frame from the authorities is way past. If it's not in the post box tomorrow, I will have to reschedule :( :(

Maybe if you haven't gotten it on time, you can still have the interview on Wednesday and just post them the police certificate when it arrives? Then, when they get it, they can just give you your visa without you having to go through the trouble of scheduling another interview. I don't know if that plan is a possibility at your consulate, but hopefully a solution that doesn't lose you too much time will be found! Good luck! We're all rooting for you!

Thanks.. that's what I am hoping for, but they seemed to really want to make sure I have it for the interview. Will try to negotiate, but first tomorrow I will sit out in front of the door in this beautiful weather to wait for the postman :)

It's funny how this process wears you down. After all these months of waiting I can get so upset by the little glitches. Which is stupid. :) There is so much to be happy for... most importantly all of us here have our loved one waiting to be with us. Even if far away, that is such a special thing to have. And of course, we are all getting married :) :)

This may seem like a stupid question, please don't take it the wrong way, but are you certain they are going to mail it to you? The reason I ask is because my fiancée had to go pick hers up at the police station. She went and applied for it and then about a week later she went and picked it up.

No unfortunately, that would mean I could actually pick it up on time. :) Here, you can only apply for one via mail and it should take 5 workdays.

So, after two hours of being put on hold at the post office and the bureau responsible for police certificates, they figured out where it is. It was issued, but they forgot to post it. Now they are kind enough to let me go get it myself :)

GOOD LUCK! We can't wait to hear your good news! You'll be here with your love before you know it!

Evil?!

Believe it or not, I totally hated it when I moved here in September. The combination of Ewan leaving (he left in early Oct), oppressive weather (for a WI girl, at least), having to drive everywhere (I'm used to biking/walking/buses), insanely high cost of living (I'm not used to the big, fancy city) and lack of a "green" sensibility all got to me. But now, it's really growing on me. There are great (and often not too pricey) restaurants, tons of art, flowers blooming year round and a really good public radio station (nerd!). Also, I've grown used to the weather and I've made friends, so that surely helps. If anyone needs a Miami/Florida Keys vacation/honeymoon (we're honeymooning at a B&B in the Keys), definitely hit me up!
