Hi everyone,

Well so me and my fiance John did not have a good day, yest was a bad day.I have been sick and also eagerly waiting to hear about the NOA2s and all.And he just called me yest saying that he got fired from his job yest.:(

That was such a shock to take in,I had not seen that coming.

We are of course going to figure a way out,but what is the best way out.

We are in the NOA2 waiting stage,so when he sent out our petition,he had included his employment letter.

What do you think happens?

He will try to look for a job and all,but assuming VSC suddenly wakes up and sends us all approvals, should we decide on a co-sponsor for the I-134 or wait?

Also,if we did,it will be his father, but will there be a discrepancy since we had included his employment letter in the original petition?

I will really appreciate any advice .And everyone's hope and optimism is commendable !

Anwesha

Oh, Anwesha, I'm so sorry to hear that! It sucks being fired anytime, but to have it happen when income is crucial for the K1 process and in the middle of this gray economic cloud... I feel for you, sweetheart.

But things will be okay! From what I saw on some of the other threads just now, I think the best thing to do is for him to find a job, any job, to put on his I-134 for the interview. Then, probably, get a co-sponsor. (For what it's worth, I have a co-sponsor. Even though I make enough money to be over the limit, I've been in this job only since September, and was unemployed for several months before that... I just put instructions saying to disregard the co-sponsor (my dad)'s info if it was unneeded).

Things will work out! This is just a little hiccup along the way. I'll be hoping hard for John to find a job that suits him, and quickly.

Keep your head up, and know that you have us to lean on. Hug!

Megan

Anwesha, I'm really sorry about what happened - it really sucks to have something like that happen when you are already going through much and apart from each other. I agree with megger though, and I don't think it will be a problem.

Bets of luck to your fiance in finding a new- and better - job.

Thank you megger,justar and kisk.

You girls are a great support.

I was feeling horrible yest, the sickness and the distance apart was already making me feel restless and to top that off,a job loss!

But so we are going to have to handle it.He will talk to his father, and in the meanwhile try looking for a job.

My only concern is that if you know VSC sends the approvals sooner than he finds a job, then will we be able to arrange everything on time.

Well,I guess we just have to see how this thing works out.

Thank you again everyone.:)

I've heard about people delaying their interviews for various reasons, so that's always an option. Although it would suck to be apart for longer than you otherwise would have to be, if him having a job makes the difference between approval and denial, it's totally worth it.

But hopefully he'll be calling you with the good news of an awesome job in no time, and the next day that long-awaited email from USCIS will show up in the inbox. My fingers and toes are all crossed for you!

Yes, I agree. Once it is with the consulate, it pretty much depends on you to set the pace. Of course, there are some countries where it might be harder, but in Hungary for instance, the consulate people (very friendly, really) told me that after they send out the package, the timing is up to me and they'll keep up :) Maybe you should call your consulate and just ask some informal questions - it eased my mind a lot.

Okay, I have an off-topic true confession:

I have a stash of those Dove promises little wrapped chocolates in my desk. I have to admit, with all the stress of this visa process, I've been hitting them pretty hard (I hope I don't gain a zillion pounds before my fiance is back!)

On the inside of the wrapper, in addition to delicious chocolate, they have a little motivational message (it's talking about breast cancer, but let's just pretend...)

The one I just opened says, "Keep on hoping! This will be a 'blip' on your screen of life!"

I thought that was a good message for everyone right now... I just wish I could send you some chocolate along with it! :P

Okay, I know this is going to sound perfectly pathetic, but I was looking at some of the K1-ers before me (yeah, I know, I need to get a life), and I saw one that was approved according to their page, but did not update their timeline... they were approved on the 8th. So there must be some more people who got approved just forgot to share it and the Vermont office is actually working and didn't catch on fire... right...? :)

OK... from what i can see - It's an average or 2 months (or there abouts) from NOA1 to NOA 2, now with having the holiday period inbetween and (most likely a lot of) people off i'd say we need to add about a week or so to our 'expected date'. I sure hope you're right about that, because my dates were January 4-7, so by the math of "add a week," I should be seeing mine today!

Yeah, I can't keep my hopes that high...

I decided if I don't see anything by the end of the month, I'm going to take all the money I have saved up for the AOS and spend it on a plane ticket to New Zealand. Not a very prudent choice, but I DON'T CARE!!

Yeah, I keep convincing myself that a huge pile of approvals (ALL of us) is right around the corner. I keep trying to find patterns in the approvals that mean that ours are coming up. But so far, every time, I've been wrong. I guess that's why I did so poorly in statistics in college - I'm no Igor... Uh, but I digress.

Every hour without word from Vermont, it gets harder and harder to stay positive... Sigh :(
