Hi my Canuck VJ'ers, I hope you are all surviving the shift to cold weather that we Canadians seem to be enjoying

I don't know if I am jumping the gun on this topic but I am getting nervous. My fiance and I applied for our 129f in March of 2009 and we were approved in July. I sent in packet 3 at the beginning of September and did my medical in Toronto in September as well.

I haven't heard of anything since then and I've noticed many people have gotten their interviews for the next couple of months although they sent package 3 in well after I did. Is it possible I messed something up? Another problem is that my passport expires in July of 2010 and I'm not sure I can apply for a new one before then- I didn't think this would be a problem when we applied since it seemed like a long time until my passport expired?! I know it has to be valid for six months after entry?!? Although I miss my fiance very much and would like to be with him, I think I am more ready for the interview to be over. I also think I should breathe.

Thanks in advance

Not sure on interview thing...hang in there...there is no method to how MTL does things...

About the passport, you can apply 6 months prior to expiry and you should...US can deny you entry if your passport is expiring within 180 days of entry and Passport Canada knows this....

Take your immigration visa app papers with you...show them, and tell them u r moving within a few months and need a valid passport. You can do this in Jan... or maybe even sooner....I suggest going in person.

Good luck

Looks like you should be able to renew without problems if it expires within the year.

From passport application form:

If your current passport expires more than 12 months from the date you submit your application, provide a written explanation for why you are applying at this time. Should Passport Canada not be satisfied that you have a valid reason for applying early, your application for a new passport may be refused.

Good luck.

Dont be nervous!!! Its happened to everyone :crying:

Just think of it as some kind of endurance test! I told my hunny that this relationship better stick because not only did we go through the normal couple issues of dating and long distance, we had to battle the goverment for legality too!!! And not a lot of people can say that

I would suggest to call the DOS and just inquire about your date -- and if your application is ok. I got my date 2 weeks before I got P4. I also submitted P3 on the first week of August. Its likely that youve been scheduled but no P4 yet -- and if not, you hopefully would get a date by Dec or Jan. And dont lose hope! Last October, I was crying because I thought I wont get scheduled til February (that is what the DOS people told my fiance when he called), and one of the VJers said, anything can happen. Me and the hunny thought that the earliest would def be December but lo and behold, we got a date for mid-Nov!!!!

And ditto to what Poprocks said. Also, I dont think you need to let your passport expire before you renew it. And I dont think it takes that long anymore too! Especially if youre just renewing.

Anyway best of luck! Hope you get a date soon!

Finally married... and still married... ;)

Yesterday at my interview he (the director) said that they are scheduling a bunch more K-1s and then CR-1s in the coming weeks. Hang tight.

The wait sucks. Then you aren't waiting anymore. Your date should be imminent because of your timeline. Some of us wait longer than others. People who interviewed same day as me had submitted P3 a fair bit later than me. People who submitted around the same time or even earlier are interviewing in the coming weeks.

They're working really hard to get things through.
