It should just be renamed the liberal whining thread.

The country got tired of hardcore liberalism really quick. Traditionally, off-year elections have been about local issues. However, (for the most part) the dems made this off-year election about national issues, and particularly about Obama. The voters, it seems, have rejected Obama this off-year election.

Let more whining continue.

Well, the exit polls thus far tell a very different story: 20% on either side had national issues on their mind and the remaining 60% primarily made a local choice. It's really not that unusual.

If that makes you feel better, i'm all for it. I just wonder if the exit polls in 2010 will make you feel better too.

It doesn't make me feel better. Polling the people that actually cast a vote just happens to reflect more accurately why people cast the votes they cast than your perception ever could. Unless you've got some reliable crystal ball that you consult...

So I guess John Kerry is president now?

Don't you mean "do your homework" "you lack critical thinking" etc etc etc?

AJ, some impostor is trying to steal your thread.

But we won't let him, will we?

This is the only genuine real and true "Republican gloating thread", where all gloating shall be done.

As of 9:51EST, here is the scoop on the same-sex ballot initiative in Maine, the only race of real interest in the country tonight:

updated less than 1 minute ago

PORTLAND, Maine - Gay marriage was put to a vote in Maine on Tuesday in a closely watched referendum that gay-rights activists across the country hoped would prove that public opinion is turning in their favor.

Voters had to decide whether to repeal or affirm a state law that would allow gay couples to wed. The law was passed by the Legislature last May but never took effect because of a petition drive by conservatives.

Early returns showed a close contest, as had been forecast. With 70 of 608 precincts reporting, the gay-marriage side had 53 percent to 47 percent for the other side.

Maine. Enough said.

It's the equivalent of asking the middle east to vote on human rights.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Good man.

Well, current exit polling is showing THIS thread beating THAT thread by 27 posts to 17 posts, and 185 views to 115 views.

If current projections hold true, THIS thread should win in a landslide.

I understand that AJ is preparing his victory speech now, and should be entering the ballroom shortly to the cheers of his supporters. The concession phone call from RWN headquarters should be made shortly.
