Guys!!! I just got interview letter today!! Yay!!!!!

I'm so excited but also worried about my hubby documents.

Our apartment was broken in. My laptop was stolen. His whole set of important documents like Birth Cert. / Tax transcript/ W-2/ DD214 all gone.

They took our safe box and a bunch of our stuff. They got in by window and walked out the back door.

I'm worried about what I'm gonna do. I have start doing something unless it will run out of time.

I know that he has to request a new copy of all his documents. and yup it probably gonna take some time.

Anyway, my interview date is Feb 17, 2010. at 11 am Norfolk office.

Is it strange that I even got my interview before EAD? It seems like everyone got it exactly like that.

Well, be safe and take care guys.

Thanks for keeping me company.

Hey Sky,

Oh my gosh that's so awful over the break in. You poor things that's really rough.

Congrats on your interview letter though. If I were you I would definitely order a replacement birth cert for your hubby right away. They're usually pretty fast. My hubby's took a week and mine only took about 10 days (from England!) So i'm sure you can get it in time. You might want to order replacement tax transcripts too. Do you have a police report of the theft? I would definitely take that with you to the interview just in case you're missing something.

Good Luck & fingers crossed on the replacements arriving fast...

I'm sure your EAD will be ordered soon - mine came about 2 weeks after the interview letter...

Hi Sky! Congratulations on receiving your interview letter! I am also going through the Norfolk, VA office. I'm very excited to hear how it went for you! I'm trying to be patient waiting for a biometrics letter... feels like it is taking a long time compared to others. I'm in Richmond. :)

I'm sorry about your place being broken into. I don't know your particular situation, but know that you can get a replacement Birth Certificate in VA in person (walk-in) in Richmond, VA. I don't know if you would be able to make it here or not. The other option is to mail off for it, which you have plenty of time to do. Here is the website address in case you didn't know. http://www.vdh.state.va.us/Vital_Records/index.htm

First of all, thank you guys so much. I got a great news! I just received email stated "Card Production Ordered" Hoorayyyy!!

Marie09,

I just got an email said "Card Production Ordered" It's just right after you mentioned it.

My hubby and I are looking for the fastest and cost-efficient way to get the replacement of his birth certificate right now. He just told me that he have done it before so I don't need to be worried about that. However, I got all his documents scanned and stored in our email. Worst case, if we can't get the replacement back in time. We might just show the copy together with police report. I will definitely bring the police report with me. Thanks ;)

Rebecca & Phil,

It was scary to know that someone might want to get into our house and get what they want anytime. I'm still glad that no one get hurts. Everything we've lost, we probably buy the new one easily, but if something happen with our life, there's no replacement for that.

Anyway, my interview date is on Feb 17 so I hope that I could get everything done before the end of Feb. Keep your finger crossed for me ;) Thanks again.

Laura

Laura & Kyle,

It's good to know that you will go through Norfolk office. They are nice people, quick and get things done so easy. It took me 15 mins for the whole biometrics things. Probably, it's gonna take you to drive 2 hrs just to get that 15 mins done. Well, hope you will get your bio letter very soon!

Regarding the replacement of my hubby's birth certificate, he was born in Rhode Island so we definitely won't be able to do the walk-in. The only option we have right now is mailing it. We have around 3 weeks to get it done.I can only hope that we have enough time to get it right before the interview.

Thanks again guys, I really appreciate it.
