Of course my family kept trying to convince me to return to Europe find a nice portuguese boy and settle down, haha

If I hadn't met my husband, I would have been delighted to have found a "nice Portuguese boy"! Latin men are usually my favourites - lovely olive skin tone, dark hair and eyes and, generally, quite passionate! This is what happens when you grow up in Scotland and have spent too many years looking at pale, freckly men!

Funnily enough my husband is a white boy from Ohio, so you'd expect him to look like Whitey McWhitey, but he actually looks Latino or Middle Eastern. His heritage is mainly Slovakian, so maybe that's where the dark hair and olive skin come from? Well, whatever it is, he's yummy!

I know what you mean about that mediteranean/middle easter look, definetely my taste too...

Well my family is actually Very happy with my choice of husband, guess why? Cause Jason's half portuguese, LOL !!!!!

His uncle and my dad has the same names... now here comes the weird bit that happened recently...

one day my husband was walking past this photo I have in a frame in our house and he did a double take he told me, cause he thought the pic of my cousin holding his child was HIM... he looks the spitting image of my portuguese cousin... ok ok, I know a lot of Portuguese people kinda look a little the same, but dang wouldn't it be tooo freaky if it turns out we're somehow distantly related, LOL !!!! I doubt that, but sheeeeezzzz I would faint !!!!

marie, that's soooo cool that you worked for Disney, one of my friends also worked for Disney years ago, driving the safari truck at Animal Kingdom, she only stayed 2 years though and went back to South Africa and is happily settled down and married now, but when she heard I was coming to the US for college she told me that she was sooo jealous and she loved the US sooo much and would've stayed had she met someone or had family here, she said Disney was the best experience of her life...

Good luck with your biometrics today!

Thank you! yep Disney was amazing... So not real world. I still miss it over 3 years on... Actually had room mates from all over the world - one was from South Africa...

That was really interesting, Marie! It was a good idea for us to write down our stories. Makes everything feel a little bit more human rather than just talking about I-485, I-130 etc. all the time! Once I get a wee bit more time I will write down my own story.

That's funny that you went to school in upstate New York, Marie, because so did I...many aeons ago, though, in 1996-1997. That was my first time in the US as an exchange student, and I went to SUNY Albany. Where were you?

You are probably well rid of the Scottish boyfriend! Scottish men do have their charms, it's true, but, well, they're not exactly the most romantic or good-looking men on the planet!

Good luck with your biometrics appointment today! It doesn't look like I'm going to be one of those lucky walk-in Visajourney members who gets their EAD before their original bio appointment. Mine was December 14th, and still no new touches on my I-765, or anything else for that matter.

I was at a SUNY school too! SUNY Binghamton! Really liked it there. Looking fwd to hearing your story too at some point :star: Thanks for the good luck wishes for biometrics, hoping it goes well after the wait... hoping your EAD gets approved soon, will be good to see some November EAD approvals.

Of course my family kept trying to convince me to return to Europe find a nice portuguese boy and settle down, haha

If I hadn't met my husband, I would have been delighted to have found a "nice Portuguese boy"!

Haha me too also if I hadn't met my husband... I had a latin BF once... Though my hubby is not at all latin looking (he has German heritage) but still a total cutie :star:

Lol! Aw don't say that...

Yay Sky - that's awesome...

I just got mine done too :star: Pretty easy, got there the security guard checked mine and the hubbys ids, didn't care about the marriage cert. another guy grabbed my appointment letter so fast I didn't even know he had it - till I looked for it after the security point... Sat and waited, one other guy waiting - we were like an hour early but they didn't care. Then they called me after the other guy was done.

The IO asked for my resident card (I wish!!! haha!) gave her the passport and she said she was glad i'd bought the marriage cert as she needed to see it... She gave me a form to fill out... Then they took my finger prints like a zillion times as I guess they won't getting good matches, took my autograph then photo... They didn't offer to show me the photo - I guess it will be a surprise!!!

Then gave me the apt letter back stamped, and that was it...

After we went to the PO so my hubby could apply for his first passport! Hopefully once i eventually have the GC and we have money we can go on a trip to UK...

So now back to waiting... no touches yet...

Congragts marie! I have also not had any touches yet since I did my bio on 3 December. I was wondering... do our local offices issue the EAD cards or does it come from some head office somewhere in Chicago or wherever? Anyone know?

I think mine is going to be like yours - no touches on mine yet either - I keep checking! I am so impatient lol! But my I-485 has had no updates since 11/16 - almost a month!

Hoping we get some positive updates soon :star:

I think the EADs come from MO - but could be wrong. We should start a thread as some of the october filers could def tell us...

Awww I totally sympathise, am glad they got your 2nd marriage cert. I'm sure given your early biometrics it won't slow you down at all...

I think things are slowing down with holidays coming and all... I noticed that according to the database some October filers are still waiting for EAD/AP approvals... Whereas a few weeks ago - it seemed like October filers were getting EAD/AP approvals on the day off or day after biometrics. Definitely not the case right now. I can't believe not 1 November filer has had an EAD approval yet...

Hopefully next week will bring better news for all of us...

Hey IstanBulls, so you're pretty sure you included the copy of the marriage certificate and think they lost it? omg !

What did you send initially? Exactly the same as what you sent again?

Did you get married in the USA?

Hey Shani,

Yes, I am 100% positive that I have included the copy in my package. Because after I got the letter, I checked my documents. I copied everything I have sent to them. And MC was included in there. Also It is listed on my cover letter as a line item. I am pretty sure that They lost it. I can't believe. The interesting part is that I also had the copy of my marriage certificate in my I-130 package. They are such a mess, very unorganized.

Initially, I sent the actual certified copy my marriage certificate that I got from the city hall. This time I also again send the certified copy as well as the xerox copy of the certified copy.

And yes, I got married here in San Francisco City Hall. :)
