OK....

Many of you have read my topic about my fiance being denied due to lack of evidence.

Well, in short, he went to the interview, was asked a bunch of questions, showed lots of evidence and then was DENIED, and the Consular Officer said it was due to lack of evidence but then gave him no paperwork, no chance to come back with more evidence (which from what I understand is usual when the CO believes there is not enough evidence). So, after a few days of crying and reading up on all of your advise and help. I sent a letter to the Supervisory Consular Officer (actually two letters, in the past two days) urging him to review our case and at the very least allow us to come back with more evidence. Well, out of the blue, my fiance and I were talking just now and decided to call the Consulate and ask why he wasn't given any paper when he left. They ended up giving him another interview date (according to the person at the Consulate) for August 1 at 1:00 p.m. told him to bring all of the paperwork he had originally brought, plus the more evidence (Oh, boy, they asked for it - I have thousands of e-mails and lots of pictures)...... has anyone heard of this? Could this be that the CO was SUPPOSED to give him a paper with the allowance to return at another time with more evidence? Has anyone heard of this or had this experience???? PLEASE TELL ME ALL!!!!!!!!! Do you think my letters might have worked and they are giving us another opportunity or was it because the "NICE MAN" that interviewed my fiance just didn't follow through and give him the information, directions and paperwork that he needed in order to return???? PLEASE TELL ME YOUR THOUGHTS!!!!!!

This time, I will be there with him in that case... it is an unexpected expense but at the very least it could make or break our case. Correct? PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS!!!!!!

not sure if Bogota allows the SO to be in the interview (many don't) but at least moral support I am sure it will help... I have not heard of your type of case where they were denied with no paperwork.. Perhaps the officer there meant to say or thought he said.. ok lets reschedule and bring your extra proof. who knows.

People here can only guess about why you were denied or why they gave the second interview. Are they going to send you papers to get in the consulate?

Don't go in with an attitude. Be professional. Also remember the interview is for your fiance, not you. They may not even want to talk to you.

Tell your fiance to foget about the first interview unless they ask him. He has been given a second chance. He should not waste this opportunity trying to get them to admit some mistake or explain why he was denied the first time.

Based on VJ second interviews are usually productive. This time you will be there which is a big plus. I don't think you will have a problem.

Thanks sfljoe! Long time no "speak"... Yes you're right, it's all about him, and I will not go in there with an attitude, no way. I totally understand taht this is our second chance so I'm thankful they gave us that!!! This time, however, they will be inundated with evidence. ;)

Excellent,

I don't think you will have any problems. Bogota is usually fairly painless. Your fiance must have caught somebody on a bad day. I would think that since this second interview was directed from the top that there will be an incentive to approve. This was a really bizarre denial from the start. I have never heard of anybody that didn't get some form of paper explaining why.

I went with Lucero and they were fairly nice to me. They were a little rough on her but not too bad.

Heads Up!

Lucero got approved for her green card last week. Plan a year after your fiance arrives. It took a while before she could work also. Much longer than we expected. Make sure that he has the DS 3025 shot records. If you didn't get a copy at the medical he should get one at the POE. Also check the I 94 that they fill at the airport. Make sure they have the right visa type and the correct expiration. Those 2 things will save you a lot of grief down the road.

I hear you loud and clear! Carlos and I are not to that point yet, but I am nervous, too. All's legit and we have a lot of evidence, so I am not worried about that but, you just never know when someone at the embassy is having a case of "PMS". ;) I am hoping someone has taken their Midol before our interview. Hahaha. Ah, never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought that I would be cracking jokes about a future immigration interview my Colombian fiance would be attending. This Matrix that we are in really blows my mind sometimes.

Side note that I hope will make you guys chuckle a bit: A few weeks ago, I, myself, was going through a bad case of "PMS". I told Carlos that I was eating everything in site and I was crying over a commercial on the television and that it had to be bc I was "PMS"ing hardcore. Well, the man is very bright, and he grew up with his mother and sister, but he had no clue what "PMS" was. I took this and used it to my advantage and told him it was "Putting up with Men's $hit". He started rolling with laughter and I was busting a gut bc he was laughing so hard. Ahhhhh, sometimes it is the little things in life.... :P

11/03/06: Carlos arrives in the States for the first time

12/05/06: MARRIED MARRIED MARRIED!!!!!

01/11/07: Applied for SSN

01/17/07: Received SS card in snailmail

03/13/07: Submitted AOS and EAD

03/22/07: Received NOA1 for both AOS and EAD in mail

03/24.07: Received Biometrics Appt. letter

04/06/07: Biometrics Appt.

04/07/07: AOS RFE (used an outdated form. argh!)

04/10/07: Mailed RFE

04/18/07: USCIS notes that processing has resumed

06/18/07: EAD received

06/19/07: Greencard!! No interview!
