Hi everyone,

Our interview in Casablanca, Morocco was rescheduled from the 4 of November, to the 6 of November. We just realized today that the 6 of November is Eid al Massira! I looked, however, on the consulate's website and I found that they post Eid al Massira as being on the 18th of November, not the 6th.

Here is the website for the consulate's holiday postings:

http://casablanca.usconsulate.gov/holidays4.html

and here is a web that agrees with the rest of morocco:

http://www.southtravels.com/africa/morocco/holidays.html

I'm so confused! The original appointment is tomorrow, should he go to it or should we take a risk of going on the holiday of Eid??!!!

On to the next stretch... AOS, EAD filed... wish us good luck:)

If I'm reading this right, it looks like the consulate lists Eid al Istiqulal (Independence Day), not Eid al Massira (anniversary of the Green March), as being on the 18th, which is correct. I haven't heard of them closing for Eid al Massira in the past. They don't close for every Moroccan holiday. If it were us, we'd go on the 6th, leaving early to allow for holiday traffic. Did you initiate the rescheduling or did they, and did they send you something in writing with the 6th on it?

I'm the USC.

I just talked to my dad who is moroccan and worked with the government in morocco for 30 years.... and well it seems the US consulate of Morocco does not celebrate eid al massira, and when i was reading the list of their holidays.. yes - you caught it.. it listed independence day and not massira. well thats good, alhamdullah. so we'll go the 6th.

I guess this post is some-what useless sand can be erased..!

On to the next stretch... AOS, EAD filed... wish us good luck:)
