Hello everyone,

PLEASE help us! We are awaiting for the NVC to show our IV Bill as paid so that we can print out our cover sheet and send off the IV Packet but just now my husband calls me to tell me that he just received a letter from the US Consulate in Cairo regarding the K3 Visa. The letter is asking him to complete a form and tells him where to go for a medical exam. HELP!!!

What do we do? Drop the CR1 process now and go with the K3 that got to Cairo so quickly? But I just payed $400 dollars and I don't want to throw money away...Or do we just ignore the K3 letter from Cairo and continue with our CR1 process now? OMG! I did not think this would happen to us. We are in such a dilemma and don't know what would be the smartest thing to do???

PLEASE HELP US EVERYONE. WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Thanking you in advance.

It happened to me over 5 yrs ago. We filed for K3 and CR1. However, during the process, my CR1 came in first. We paid them already and had an interview sched back in the USEMB in the Philippines. K3 then came in just like what you are experiencing right now. We then wise enough to decide to cancel and ignore the K3 for the procedure will almost the same just like of the CR1 once you arrive in the USA. I arrived smoothly here in the USA without any hassles at all. Thanking God that me and husband made a wiser decision in picking CR1 (IR1) since this is automatic permanent resident card immigrant for 10 yrs once you receive your permanent res card. If you pick K3, you will do the same procedure once you arrive here in the USA and the status is non-immigrant i believe if I remember though and you have to adjust your status in a couple of years. For IR1, after 3 yrs continous marriage with your spouse, you can apply for citizenship. I know you are freaking out but there is no use of acting that way at this point in time. I know you are confuse and so was I before but you both have to talk calmly and think wisely which is the best thing to do.

Goodluck to your journey.

I'd pick the CR1. But then again, the K3 does look SO tempting. Tough decision.

Ignore all K-3 paperwork. If you've started the NVC process, do not worry about the K-3 documents, simply do not respond to them. You can call the USEM in Cairo as well and let them know you've chosen the CR-1 route...

Lizz I agree that you should just ignore the K3 and continue with the CR1 because these days they are being processed at about the same times and in the end it will be a lot less paperwork once your husband is here and he will have his SS card within 2 weeks of entering the US. Best of luck and let me know if you need any info or help filling out any paperwork.
