When did you send back your Package 3? Yes, Vancouver is pretty quick. Did you put down your preferential dates for the interview? You should hear something soon. Is this the Vancouver waiting forum?

Don't know how possible it is for them to "hold the visa" as you wish to request. The visa is put into your passport, which you surrender to them at the interview (if approved). I haven't seen on the forums where someone was able to send them the passport later on to have their visa inputted - though I suppose you could request it, just be prepared that they might deny that request and take your passport anyhow.

Sounds like it would be a better bet to request a later interview if you have travel plans, as that may be more likely to be allowed (though again, believe that's up to their discretion, so be prepared if that doesn't work out).

What has been done, is if you're interviewed and your visa is approved, you can request that you get your visa placed in your passport at a later time. You have to be specific though. Krikit did this. So, you take home your passport after the interview, and then you can mail it in and have it returned with the visa the next month.

kitjerky...if you do get a November interview, why don't you just move down instead of going for a "holiday" in December? Or, I suppose if given a date too early, you could ask them to reschedule.

Package "4" is basically just a letter with your interview date. You'll get an email as well about this date. Print off the email just in case you don't get the letter, as you'll need written proof of your interview date to get in the building.

Here on the Wiki page, there might be a copy of the letter received which is package 4...I didn't check that it was there. Did you fax your package 3 back?

Ah, I see. I guess I was assuming, with the amount of interviews/paperwork that some of these consulates have, that they wouldn't allow something like this.

Thanks for the clarification.

Vancouver Consulate is quite accommodating. I think you're right...given the amount of interviews/paperwork and generally the non-organization at Montreal, this could be a problem...or a case where they might just say, no, because they just can't be bothered. Although it was Montreal where Krikit asked about this, however that was 3 years ago I think. Never hurts to try!
