Sad to get the Good News?

So I got the email today, finally! My wife and kids have scheduled interviews for Friday December 18th, 2009. This is the great news, the downside is its a Friday? With being on a Friday, when will my family receive the package so they can cross the boarder? It is sooo close to Christmas and I would love to have them here by then? When does the Embassy close for the Holidays? Soo many questions so little time.

Please confirm the following:

O = The original document has been received and accepted as meeting post requirements?

C = Direct inquiries to your consulate / embassy?

congrats! As you know they mail out the approved visa! One can always ask to pick it up, 99.9% they will say no, but doesnt hurt right! Otherwise hopefully they would mail it out early the next week would be my guess. Maybe they would get it in the mail that Friday as it is the holidays, and they may be in a festive mood! :-)

Does the Embassy post the holiday hours? If it doesn't leave in the mail on Friday, they don't allow a pick up, and they are closed the next week; can my family come for a visit?

I dont think they can visit, cant cross the border without a passport and I would guess the embassy would have their passport at that time to put the visa in it.

I remember something about a Visajourney "guinea pig" who was going to try bringing a next-day delivery envelope to his interview...did anything ever come of that? I think Trailmix was actually the one who gave him his guinea pig title come to think of it.

Anywho, if he's already tried that, maybe it would work for you as well.

If you want your visa, you must hand over your passport.

It was Mikey - he had his interview last Thursday, no sign of the passport yet - but who knows if they have even sent it.

But they did accept the overnight envelope no problem.

Being so close to the Holidays, I wish I could just book their flights here so I can enjoy the holidays. It will be a lonely one without them.
