Hello all,

On form I-129F we put Kiev, Ukraine as the US embassy for my fiancee to apply, because she is a Ukrainian citizen. However, my fiancee lives near Moscow, Russia right. So the NVC told me they sent our file to Moscow. Did the NVC do the right thing? Or more importantly - Will the embassy in Moscow accept her application as a Ukrainian citizen? Just to be clear, she is NOT a Russian citizen.

Thanks, Ryan

as long as the consulate has jurisdiction over there legal residence the applicant can be from any nation.... they do not force a resident back to the country of citizenship

it is not wrong. You can request a change of consulate if you want, but why? Unless you wanted to attend the interview.

The only reason Kiev would be better than Moscow is that it would ease her stress, because Kiev is her hometown.

I assume that it would take a fair amount of time to transfer the file from Moscow to Kiev. Anytime we might save if indeed Kiev is a little faster, we would lose by transferring.

I can't go either way so that doesn't matter.

Moscow, it is then. As I say, if the end of the process is approval, neither she nor I will care one way or the other.

Thanks, Ryan
