I'm excited! I received the NOA1 in the mail today. :dance: I know we still have a long way to go, but getting those papers put together was quite the experience and I'm just so glad they are there and the clock is ticking on USCIS to get them processed! It didn't really say anything about the biometrics and since no one else seems to say they needed them for the I-130 I'm thinking maybe it was a generic paragraph on the website that I was reading. If I get a notice, then I'll know for sure. But now we wait....

2/12/2010 NVC received and case number assigned

2/19/2010 Gave NVC email addresses

Vanessa - It is rare that a petitioner needs biometrics. The beneficiary, sure, usually taken at the Consulate.

But for a petitioner? If the name popped up on a list, then there is possibility, for the petitioner.

But, it's rare..

I'm hoping you just had a data error.

FWIW, go back to the status portal site, enter yer receipt # from the NOA1, see what's up? You might have 'got it wrong' from reading the back of the check (IMO ).

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

It didn't state that I absolutely had to do it, but it was a generic paragraph:

"If you have filed an I-485, I-589, I-751, N-400, I-90, I-821, I-131, I-130 or I-765, you can expect to receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints and/or biometrics taken...."

On the actual form I received today it stated towards the bottom "In some types of cases USCIS requires biometrics. In such cases, USCIS will send you a separate appointment notice with a specific date, time and place for you to go to a USCIS Application Support Center (ASC) for biometrics processing."

Does it say this for everyone?
