I am getting ready to send off the I-130 and was wondering if i should send bank statements with showing that i am supporting my wife now or wait until the interview? I dont want to clutter up the package too much if it isnt needed right now.

I do have some affidavits from people that were at the wedding and i am sending some pictures from the wedding. Anything else i should send? thanks

Thanks, i think i may leave the bank account statements out since it isnt a joint account. The only thing that they could see from those would be the western union transfers since my bank does it and then the atm withdrawls since i gave her an atm card to the account. The western union fees were adding up.

I do have a copy of the marriage certificate

copy of my divorce decree

copy of the wedding invitation (we only had the ones we kept for ourselves left)

copy of my passport

copy of my birth certificate

4 affidavits

21 pictures from the wedding

I think we only need to have the other proof for the interview right? Like the western union sheet, chat logs, cards, e-mails, phone bills, more pictures of when i go to visit again...my ticket stubs, hotel receipts.

Thanks for the replies

I think it depends on the particular case. If yours is a relatively simple case with no red flags as such I think it is okay to provide just the basics at the petition stage. Few pictures, cards, affidavits should suffice. I sent in about 6 pictures and the basic stuff such as birth certificate, passport copy etc. Back load at the interview stage later with phone bills, emails, chat logs, greeting cards, tickets. If it is a complicated case, then it makes sense to front-load the petition.

Just my $.02.

I would leave out evidence of sending money to your wife in the PI. It doesn't help and can hurt. It's important to remember that the USC being serious about the relationship is seldom in question. The most common concern is that the foreign spouse is using the USC for a green card. Sending them money doesn't help deal with that concern, but CAN add to it. No need to conceal anything but no need to testify against yourself.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

Thanks for the advice. that is what i was thinking too. I figure if it is needed, they will ask for it. I think it will be better to have the correspondence evidence for the interview. I know if i give too much up front, it could look bad too. I think i have enough stuff to start the process now and i will wait to see what happens after i send it in.

Has anyone included a letter stating the timeline of the relationship or is that not needed at this point?

Thanks again. I'm getting excited now. At least some of our waiting will be while i am deployed to the middle east. I didnt want to wait to submit the petition until after i got back in january.

You can include a time-line or evolution of the relationship letter. Some people do it, however, many do not as the support affidavits often cover it. It's usually done if there are complications that you might need to explain etc. but not necessary. Of course, it can't hurt.

Thanks, i will have to look and see if I have my SGLI statement saying that she is a benificiary...although when i changed it i had her listed as my girlfriend...hmm. I will look and see. I think i have her on my record of emergency data sheet for the military. Of course i couldnt get my marital status updated before i left for kuwait because we were waiting on the marriage certificate. That is #1 on the list when I get back from here though.

I know there isnt much lapse of time from my divorce date and the date that i married Mhay...i hope that wont be a red flag going into this process. I was just waiting for my divorce to be final and then being able to take leave to go to the philippines to visit and marry her. We have known each other for almost 2 years now though.

Scott - I suggest creating an Evolution of Relationship Letter, as well. Address the time period prior to divorce, the divorce, and subsequent 'finding of Mhay' , then go forth with major timeticks (visit, engagement, marriage, methods of keeping in touch, monies sent (amounts and when)... Common sense, for you , me, and the rest of the folk here - USUALLY has a 'dead end time period' after seperation from the ex-spouse. IMO, ya need to document that time period, as the VO won't apply common sense, they are looking for 'problems', instead.

GOOD LUCK !
