Love watching water polo during the summer Olympics.

I always find it funny most peoples impression of the sport from watching it in the stands or the t.v.. They don't realize how brutal of a sport it is. I didn't realize myself how regional swimming and water polo was until I moved back east for university.

When I worked at Sainte Marie we'd put on afternoon lacrosse games with original looking equipment, it was awesome.

Except ever get hit in the back of the head with a rock covered in leather? It sucks. Sadly, after too many people got hurt they stopped doing it.

Lol Let me just say thank God that baseball season is finally over. Granted hockey won't get any more attention in the States but now I can watch Hockey Night in Canada, Versus, and the NHL Network without having to worry about any baseball being mentioned :)

GO AVS!!!

bought me a Giroux shirt while we were at my sons hockey practice lastnight.

haha Giroux and my brother were pretty big rivals in the QMJHL a couple years ago. It always feels good when I can see a young player develop like that.

The National Lacrosse League is still around. Syracuse is not in the league anymore, but the Toronto Rock are still in it and the Philadelphia Wings who play out of the Wachovia Center along with 10 or so other teams. The Rock will be in Philly on April 3rd. The Wings home opener is January 16th. Now that baseball is over, this is our next big thing to look forward to. The full season schedule can be found at www.nll.com

Big lacrosse fan here!

Go Wings!

Good to know! My brothers always played lacrosse until they both moved away to play junior hockey. I LOVE box lacrosse and spent a lot of my summers watching it as a kid.

No one gets box lacrosse here where I live..in fact, they don't even know it exists..just field lacrosse.

Box lacrosse is so exciting! Its not all that huge here, but I'm happy to have a team that has been around now for 24 years. I met most of my friends and my husband through lacrosse so I will always be thankful for the sport. I don't know about you, but I always found field lacrosse extremely less exciting. There is something to be said about having 12 guys in a confined space (including goalies) running around like crazy tossing a ball around and beating the ####### out of each other. I love it!

Damn Yankees! I'm working from home today and that's all that's on tv... Time to put a movie on..

Lol I was a Nordiques fan first, not my fault Kris Draper's face got in the way of the best clutch playoff performer's way while he was skating :)

I remember wearing my Lemieux jersey to a Joevision (watching an away playoff game at Joe Louis Arena) game after losing a bet and getting absolutely DRENCHED in beer the whole night. I seriously thought I was going to die that night haha

I'll take a picture sometime of my rec room at home one day and post it here, totally decked out in Avs stuff :)

You couldn't pay me to watch field lacrosse. It's very traditional to play it here in the North East, but I find it boring as all hell. Non-contact? That's just not how Canadians roll B)

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

I really haven't been able to get back into hockey since the lockout/strike and the subsequent rule changes really made it less enjoyable for me. I loved the physicallity of it. Don't read fights into that statement though. I enjoy the skill and all, but it's just not the same, it's like watching olympic hockey, it just doesn't do it for me. Now olypmic speed skating, thats another story

Lol There are still some HUGE hits though (Kessel got destroyed the other night) and I actually enjoy a bit more of the 80s style. I would like a little more hitting in front of the net to be allowed so talentless hacks like Holmstrom can't just stand there all day, but it's nice to see players moving around instead of getting hugged like they're visiting their Grandma for Christmas :)

Just a random thought. I hate Patrick Roy. I met him once at a sports memorabilia show about 6 years ago. I waited in line with my friend who wanted to get his autograph. I was so delighted to see him get mad and actually try to get me kicked out of the show for mispronouncing his name on purpose

Haha he can be a huge arsehole but can't deny that when he winked during the playoffs it was one of the greatest things ever caught on tape during a hockey game Hahaha.

I've heard that, but I've also heard that about a lot of sons/daughters of great atheletes who go on to play sports.

On another note, Bowflex, I used to love the Nordiques. I had no idea about Quebec or anything, I just loved the way the jersey's looked. I got a peter stasny sweater for x-mas one year, and then, they took off. I just couldn't support them anymore. Funny now that I think of it, I remember when Eric Lindros refused to play for the Nordiques when they drafted him. I hated him for that and always thought he was a douche. Well flash forward to 3 years ago and I am talking hockey with my in-laws. I almost put my foot in my mouth by telling about Lindros. Come to find out my in-laws are related to him

Haha you actually would've been fine as he in fact is a huge douchebag Lol. I love how hockey karma got him though. Avs got Forsberg out of that, won 2 cups, and Lindros became a hockey diva, hated by all of his teams, and never won the cup. :)

Forsberg was a diva too. Remember how he whined and whined after McCarty blew him up in the corner in the playoffs? :P
