Yeah I think the line between being concerned about losing one's kids (as an immigrant) to bad host country habits and punishing such apparent acquisition by murdering one's offspring is a bit wider than an ocean... this guy deserves the full penalty available to him under the law.

Um this is not the first time I heave read of such a case from an Arabic parent. Heck, my friends who were Arabic had mega strict folks. Parents that were a total contrast to your average Aussie Anglo parent.

Parental abuse is not restricted to this community. For some reason you are focusing on the excuse that was used, that the daughter was too 'westernized'. The behaviour is the important point, not the excuse given for the behaviour.

This must be an anglo thing. Funnily enough I have had similar arguments with Anglos in Australia. Why is it so hard to grasp that people from other cultures do not think along the same lines as your average Anglo-Saxon? All of my Asian, Arabic and Indian friends had strict folks. The Anglo's were the total opposite. Many moved out by 16 or even paid their folks rent. Whereas, for those with ethnic parents, moving out at 16 was not an option. Not to mention the thought of charging your kids rent was unheard of.

Another example, BYO is the norm for Anglos in Aus. Yet a total disgrace and offense to many other cultures.

Extremists are not the norm, by definition. There are hundreds of thousands of muslim immigrants and American citizens who do not respond to 'westernization' in this fashion. To suggest it is somehow more usual in such communities is again, ridiculous.
