My hubby's interview is on 12/15!

I'm not nervous at all about the interview-but I'm nervous about trying to find a flight from the US for Dec!!!! I have to book it soon and they are VERY expensive! I look forward to sitting at the interview with him, and long needed vacation out of it!

Edited by FinnLove

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!

Why don't you just go there for Christmas... I hear the weather's great! B)

Well, at least it would be very "Christmasy" weather. You might even get to see a real reindeer!

That's why I have to do the three week thing...his interview is in Naples, but we were planning on going to Finland for Xmas anyway. I wish his interview was the week after but I'm not going to tempt fate by trying to change it... I didn't book anything because we were waiting for the interview...I have to get the ticket though because it goes up every day! It's crazy...can't use frequent flyer miles either because they're all sold out.

Reindeer-well, I'm in Alaska working right now and there are plenty here!

Technically we're up first because our first interview date is the 1st of December. In El Salvador there are two interviews. The first which we have on Dec. 1 is to review all the paperwork that NVC sent, the medicals and anything else we should bring. In our case there is nothing outstanding, the panel doctor sent the medicals and NVC said everything else including photos is in order. So, after they decide everything is in order(seems a wee bit redundant to me) they will schedule us another interview the following week on the same day to actually speak to a consular officer. So our second interview and the one that count will be December 8th. So we're a day behind you guys. Best of luck. Fast approaching it is.

I'm perfectly happy to let you go first. I'm super nervous, which is STUPID, because we're sure to be denied due to an old crime. Yet it is so hard not to hope for that miracle, ya know?

6 days here.... I spoke with our attorney today, and the waiver package is being FedEx'd today (so he says) and should reach my husband in time.

We are so weary from this process.

Tomorrow, I have to go for a 3-day ambulatory EEG, which means I'll have electrodes sticking to my head for three days - can't shower, bathe, or wash my head. I'm nursing a sinus infection and trying to survive rural life without my husband to help me.

How much can one take?
