Hi everyone.

Hope you are all doing well and the process's are going smoothly for you all :)

I just did my Biometrics for my AOS and EAD on wednesday, it was nice and easy. I just have a couple of questions about what happens next.

How long is the wait usually? I know its longer for the AOS, I realize that, but how long is normal for the Green Card to arrive?

And also, do i need to apply for a social security number or is it sent with the green card, I am under no illusion that its going to be that easy, i mean it is the government we are talking about and i doubt they would make it easy all of a sudden.

Thanks in advance <3

SSN is only sent "with" the green card when you enter on a immigrant visa. K1s must apply for the SSN separately. Unless you have more than 14 days left on your I-94, you'll probably have to wait 'til your EAD shows up before you'll be able to apply.

(moving to AOS forum)

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.

You apply for the SS card separately at the SS office. You can do so when you have your EAD, or Green Card, or a K-1 can get one in the first 76 days after they arrive. If you are beyond 76 days from arrival, you will need to wait for the EAD or Green card.

SS will not affect your AOS application. You can either apply now if your I-94 is not 14 days to expiry date or after when you have your green card already. Green card arrives differently, case to case basis. Mine is 2 months.

Hi everyone.

The green card is a whole separate entity than the EAD. Usually the EAD comes around 90 days from when they received your application. You may or may not have an AOS interview before you receive your actual GC. For us the whole process took about 4 months.

And also, do i need to apply for a social security number or is it sent with the green card, I am under no illusion that its going to be that easy, i mean it is the government we are talking about and i doubt they would make it easy all of a sudden.

As others have mentioned, you need to go apply for the SS card/#.
