Problem With N-400 Application Receipt

On Oct 15 we sent application for my wife's N-400. Received in Lewiston, TX on Oct 16.

I-797C NOA sent Oct 20, 2009 and received shortly afterwards .. however....

We sent correct and full payment for $675...I have copy of cancelled check!

The NOA shows Single Application Fee: $595.00 and Total Balance Due: $0.00

Obviosly this this INCORRECT as we paid the entire correct fee and have the cancelled check to prove it!

Is this going to be a problem? Somehow I think so! Virtually everyone else has the I-797C Single Application Fee of $675.00 showing in their PAMENT INFORMATION SECTION .. THE USCIS BOZO WHO COMPLETED OUR RECEIPT ONLY PUT IN THE $595 APPLICATION FEE AND DID NOT INCLUDE THE BIOMETRIC FEE WHICH WE CLEARLY ALSO PAID!

Do we ride this one out (and temporarily do nothing) or do we make a call to try and straighten things out (which could make matters worse)?????

If I want to speak to a real immigration officer and not the pre-lim phone screener, does anyone know the appropriate telephone codes to push once I dial the 1-800 375-5283 in order to get to speak with a real immigration officer about this situation?

Or should we just send a written letter response regaring this incorrect notice to the Lees Summit, MO address on the I-797C?

ANY and ALL help is greatly appreciated...... not feeling good about this situation right now!

Many thanks....

You got a receipt for the N-400 application fee, not for biometrics.

The person sending the receipt may have been dressed in a clown costume, but the receipt amount is correct.

Hi RichardS,

The same thing happened to me before too, which you can read more about here:

N-400: Ant’s Walk-In Biometrics, Infopass, and Baby..Oh My!..., (9/30/09) My Helpful Detailed N-400 Experience and Story Here!..

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...=221180&hl=

And as told by an immigration officer in-person when I asked such when I went in for my walk-in biometrics on 9/30/09:

Question: 2) I received a Receipt/NOA for my case, by letter, with the payment information as: “Payment Information: Single Application Fee: $595.00. Total Balance Due: $0.00.”

However, when I submitted my application, I sent a single check/cheque for a total of $675, which included both the application fee and the biometrics fee, and have proof from my bank that the $675 was cashed by the USCIS. I would like to know if the amount of $595 stated on my letter is an error on the USCIS’ part and if I will receive a separate receipt for the biometrics fee that I paid, since I do not want any follow-up notices saying that I owe and additional $80, as I already paid for such before.

Answer: 2) The NOA is supposed to say $595, as that is the application fee. The receipt for the extra $80 is the Biometrics/Fingerprints letter itself. If you didn’t pay the $80, then you wouldn't be getting that (biometrics/fingerprint) letter.

And if you don't get a biomterics/fingerprint letter within 30 days of your NOA (as stated you would get such by then), then by all means, inquire further about your case...

Hope this helps. Good luck on the rest of your immigration journey too.

Ant
