Tbone, I shudder to think what the ecuadorian consulate does to folks they catch lyin' ! :innocent::unsure:
Oh, they don't even bother, then 'n' there; it's "Everyone is a lyin' fraud, including the American citizen whom we ordered here," and the "frauds" are grabbed by the neck-scruff and the belt and are heaved from the consular premises, to land face-first on the pavement. The pre-printed 221(g) or letter of refusal then follows, in the form of a paper airplane. If events were ever to progress past the Assumption stage to actual Questioning, and actual lyin' (on the part of the beneficiary or USC) were indeed determined, I believe that the standard treatment of the beneficiary and/or USC might include being drawn-&-quartered; or, being staked in a field by both hands & feet, and being covered first with honey and then with a jar of fire-ants, si man. Or maybe being made into food for the (doubtlessly skinny) lyin' in the zoo, si man.

A DREAM, IN ONE ACT (not original material, unfortunately)

A CO in Guayaquil was (after yet another 2-minute interview) heaving yet another potential visa-beneficiary out of the consulate when both stumbled over a bottle. Inside was a genie, who said, "Because you are obviously enemies, I will give one of you ONE wish, and the other of you will automatically receive DOUBLE what the first of you wishes for. What is your wish?" he asked the beneficiary. The beneficiary thought, and then said, "I wish to be half-dead." :innocent:

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

And Gary, I just thougth of this.. Allah's friend could be on a different J1 designation all together. There are 15 different designations for the J1 visa.. I only have experience with 5 of them and don't begin to even pretend I know anything about the others :)

Thank you everyone for the comments. So I will be prepare for the interview. If they ask me anything I 'll them them the truth, but what if I told them, I got fire for theft. What will happend? Will i get reject for the K1 visa? I am so nervous!!

IF they ask you about why you got fired, and you told them why, and at the same time you tell them they didn't report it to the police so there was no arrest or conviction, then no, I don't think you'll be denied. I understand that you're anxious and afraid. I don't know what it's like to be interviewed in your country as well, so I can only suggest that they're not going to be asking a lot of details about an old J1 visa. The focus of the interview will probably be on your finance and your relationship. Will he be coming to the interview? It would also really help if you filled in your timeline, your country, and what type of visa you're on a journey for.

Hi Everyone

I have some question to ask you here. I was in the states 4 years ago with J1 visa. I took some money from the register about $150. I was caught by my employer so they fired me. I wrote the confession letter and leave the job, I wasnt sure if I have any criminal record in the U.S.

Will I have a problem with a criminal record, misdemeanor or felony?

P.S I didnt go to the police station tog et a finger print or has been deported back to my home coutry.

Thank you and wish you all the best.

This is the 3rd (at least) time you have posted the same question. You do NOT have a criminal record. You CANNOT have a criminal record unless you were arrested, tried, and convicted in a court. You were not...so you don't. It is likely your employer reported the theft, he was obligated to, so assume he did. It may or may not be an issue at your interview. DO NOT LIE if asked about it. Lying will be a more serious offense than petty theft.

Very possible. We know several J1 and F1 visa holders. Some have two year residency restrictions, some do not. Some have to work a particular job, others cannot work but are students or, in one case, a student teacher at her college (Russian girl student teaching English, she has a two year residency requirement to return to Russia and teach English) I know that if the foreign country has paid for the program generally it has a residency requirement. All too cons=fusing for me and I really don't get into that.
