Hello everyone! I have a couple questions about CR-1 and IR-1.

I've been married two years (Today!). Does my application automatically turn to IR-1 or do I have to submit something to change it? Or is this done at the interview and when they give you the Visa?

Thank you

IMO - it's done at either the interview or the POE, depending.

Also, ask yer husband to study -> http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/...he_NVC_ShortCut

Good Luck @NVC !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Why, depending on the DATE, of course.

Example -

Interview 22 months past the marriage date - still CR-1 at the consulate. Wait 2 months to come into the USA, POE date is 2 years past the marriage date - gets flipped to IR-1 at the POE.

I remember reading somewhere that the date is based on the date that the visa is issued...so if your visa hasn't been issued and you passed the 2 year mark, it would automatically convert to IR-1. Double check NVC to make sure...if all else, it'll say it on your visa once you get approved...
