As I recall (with my increasingly unreliable brain) I submitted an employer letter last summer with my I-134, and a copy of same with my I-864 this January. Is it necessary to have my employer do an updated letter for our AOS interviews next week, or will they be satisfied with the one from last year. Nothing has changed, except I think my salary went up a little. It is comfortably above the 125%.

Thanks in advance!

Maya

PS Not sure it matters relative to the above question, but I won't have 2005 tax returns for them as I filed an extension and have not yet sent them in.

Many thanks to the Visajourney community for all the help!

yep, i agree with all the other replies... unless its a problem for your boss to provide you with the letter, i would get one... and taking your most recent paystubs would be good too...

Tobe had his interview yest, and because i didnt have 2005 tax returns, i gave my last months paystubs which showed my income for the year and an increased payrate

:)

good luck!

Thanks all for taking the time to reply. I've requested the letter and they say I'll have it Monday (interview is Thursday). Recent paystubs are no problem. As always, VJ is so helpful.

I can't wait to have this behind us. I hope we don't get slammed because I haven't filed 2005 taxes, made a will, or changed the deed to the house just yet. We have been so busy with getting our 10 year old through his first year in an english-speaking school and endless dental visits for both husband and son, as well as recent hand surgery for our son. What a year it has been! But we are all healthy and happy, so for that we are grateful. Now if we could just have the greencards please...

Thanks again, y'all!

We went last Thursday and one of the first things they asked for was the employment letter.

We did not have 2005 tax returns. I gave them tax transcripts for 2002, 3, and 4 along with W2s for 2004 and 2005. If you have a copy of the extension you might want to take that. I was asked no questions about why we didn't file.

They asked about joint accounts, credit cards, or bills. We were pretty weak on that stuff so we overwhelmed her with other business documents with both names. Take what you have. She seemed to want to get some things in her file and would not be happy un til she reached a certain level. She was happy with most any kind of evidence that made sense. Remeber the goal is for her to be comfortable that you are a valid married couple living together. Take everything you have and give them papers until they stop asking. We did not have most of what she asked for but we filled her little file with what we had.

My husband is getting a new employment letter for us to take to our interview we figure it doesn't hurt to be over prepared. Or at least we will be hopeful we are over prepared.

Thanks again!

Sjoefl01, congrats on a successful interview and thanks for the tips. It is a relief to hear they may be satisfied with 02, 03, and 04 returns. We'll have 05 W-2's from both of us. The best evidence we have, in my opinion, is joint title to a car we bought this past spring, both names on checking account, savings account, and debit card, TONS of medical and dental bills all sent to one or more of us at our home address (all paid by my health insurance policy), itinerary and boarding passes for all three of us for a roundtrip flight to visit my sister in NM this past spring, and lots of photos. Our wedding was a second marriage for both of us and neither of us wanted a big deal, so we were married by the Clerk of the Court in our county (like a JOP marriage). Still, I think and hope we'll be OK.

I think I've been a little too laid-back about this upcoming interview, too, but I'll whip everything into shape this weekend!

Thanks again,

:star:
