So long as the system marks down who has HIV. I'm not against allowing HIV infected individuals into the country, but there needs to be some sort of record.

While HIV infection is a serious health condition, it is not a communicable disease that is a significant public health risk for introduction, transmission, and spread to the U.S. population through casual contact. As a result of this final rule, aliens will no longer be inadmissible into the United States based solely on the ground they are infected with HIV, and they will not be required to undergo HIV testing as part of the required medical examination for U.S. immigration. This final rule is effective January 4, 2010.

that being said, i would still strongly suggest that people have their prospective spouses pass an HIV test (in their presence) before tying the knot. this is particularly true of africans, south asians, central americans, and com bloc people. in their countries malaria is endemic, and reduces the contact exposure requirement for transmission to a point at which it passes more easily thru heterosexual intercourse. there are 7 different kinds of malaria. the type most likely to increase HIV transmission (falciparum) is rife in sub saharan africa. the second most common type (vivax) has also been linked to increased susceptibility.

I can see allowing HIV positive immigrants but like DeadPool said this should be something that they have to declare (and be tested on during the medical). Being HIV positive is a fact that a prospective spouse should be aware of.

Gee, and I strongly suggest anyone marrying an American gets tested...

HIV testing is something everyone should do, no need for this regional finger pointing. Unless your new gig is as a WHO statistician.

people are too easily offended by the truth.

life is a game of statistical probability for any reasoning man. we assess risks and create defenses based upon these assesments.
