Hi,

My wife has her AOS interview next month. In the list of items, it is stated that I should bring my birth certificate, along with my passport.

I cant seem to find my birth certificate. Do I have to request a new one? Can someone tell me whether my birth certificate is strictly required. I was not born in the US.

thanks

It is on your interview appointment checklist...therefore it is REQUIRED. Plus, at the end of the checklist it says that for any foreign documents you need to attach a translation. If the officer asks for your birth certificate or not...we don't know, every case is different. Per example at my interview the officer didn't ask me anything about it.

Be prepared to have it!+don't forget about the translation. you still have time.

Good luck! :star:

We did have to show my husband's birth certificate at the interview. Didn't you send a copy of it as well with all your paperwork? I would suggest you find the way to get a new one (requesting your BC for a USC is very easy - http://www.vitalchek.com/ this is a good website to use). But if you were not born here, try to contact your local offices. They might issue you an RFE at the interview

My Timeline:
