Just got the NOA's for the AOS package

Even though I wrote out the check correctly (U.S. Department of Homeland Security) - they still put a stamp over it stating the same thing (like they do in supermarkets sometimes).

So I wonder why they reject some applications where the person puts the wrong thing down?

Sent in the AOS and within a week, got back all three NOA's (AP, EAD, 485) -

Now waiting for the appointment for the biometrics.

oh yay...

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

They wrote the same thing on our checks and we wrote out exactly what they had instructed in the directions. Perhaps it's standard?

09/21/08- Phil arrives in US

08/15/09- Wedding

10/16/09- Mailed out AOS package

01/14/10- Interview completed - Approved!

01/23/10- Conditional Green Card received!

ROC

10/17/11- Mailed ROC package

10/19/11- Package arrives at VSC

10/20/11- NOA1 issued

10/24/11- "Touch"

10/24/11- Check cashed

10/26/11- NOA1 received

11/23/11- Biometrics appointment

01/14/12- Conditional GC Expired

07/17/12- Approved! - Notification of card production

07/23/12- Notification of card being mailed

07/25/12- 10 year GC received!

One case I saw where the check was returned it was made out to U.S.C.I.S. Why couldn't they use their rubber stamp over that one??

11/12/09: EAD and AP approval emails

11/13/09: Touch on AOS, EAD and AP; 11/16/09: AP; 11/17/09: EAD and AP; 11/18/09: EAD

11/20/09: AP received

11/21/09: EAD received

12/7/09: Interview notice received

1/7/10: Interview and approval. Card production email.

Because the bank account for them is probably under DHS, not USCIS? Just cause they stamp it doesn't mean they can legally change what you've written on it, anymore than I can stamp my own name over what you write on your check. The stamp is most likely some sort of internal "memo" of sorts stating that the check did pass through someone's hands there if there's any questions or problems that arise about it not being received or what not.
