My wife in the U.S. is about to file the K3 for me until she heard that there's not much difference in processing time with IR1. Can anyone share us their thoughts, perhaps actual experiences in this issue. Hoping to get feedback from you soonest as my wife and I will be deciding next week.

Thank you very much and regards to all..

There are a LOT of topics on this subject if you'd like to do a search.

When we applied, Cr-1s were being approved 6-8 weeks faster than the K-3s. In very few instaces the K-3 is beneficial (one being if you are interviewing in Vancouver Canada). it is obsolete, slow and with adjustment of status is very expensive

Good luck.

Lots of good discussion on the subject here. Unless you have special circumstances, K3 is obsolete because it no longer saves time and the overall expense is much higher. What pales to the direct expense for many is the several months in the USA without work authorization.

To clarify, my wife came on a K3 but that was back when it WAS faster and NOT really more expensive. Things have changed. I don't advise people to do what I did three years ago. Today is today.

CR1 is better choice

abby n sheryl

Our time line for CR1 visa took only 5 months and 1 week or 156 days; from the filing the I-130 on the 03-12-2009 to Approval of NOA2 on the 05/13/2009, then Interview on the 08/18/2009 at Manila, Philippines. We had a daughter on the 11-12-2010 named AISHA JOY means HAPPY LIFE.a1_opt-1.jpga2_opt-1.jpga3_opt-1.jpg

I always recommend K3 based on our experience. You should check out the timelines for your consulate, and consider based on that. For us, it was a difference of 3 months. That's why we went with the K3. I would recommend K3 if money is not a big issue for you, if you are in a tight budget CR1/IR1 is best for you.
