Since the consulate has made it impossible to actually talk to a person (I can only listen to a recording and previously I could press 0 to talk to someone but NOT ANYMORE!) I hope someone who has filed in Calgary can help me make sure I have everything in order

this is for my wife and step kids

1 I-130 for each of them filled out

4 forms 325 one for each of us and each one copied x4 not sure if this is needed but I read somewhere that you need copys of everything but your I-130

2 US passport style photos 2"x2" for each of us (I certainly hope the dimensions are right as the person taking them was unsure -_-)

4 copys of our marriage certificate (just to be safe)

4 copys of my birth certificate

4 copys of my passport and I included my DL and canadian perm resident card on the same page not sure if its a problem but I needed it for something else as well should it just be my passport? do I even need copys of my AB DL or Canadian PR?

4 copys each of my wifes and the kids birth certificates

I have 2 notarized and signed letters from the kids father coming tomorrow 1 for each of them

i'm not sure how to make payment for this I can't pay with credit card, can I pay in cash?

also i'm not sure should I be including joint bank account information, lease agreements etc.. that we have signed together in the past as we are moving right now and so our current address living together is only going to be for a couple days -_-

is there anything that anyone thinks i'm missing i'd appreciate it

thanks for your time!

Hi Hops

We just filed in Calgary last week. We had with us:

1 copy of I-130

325 for each of us (4 copies made of each)

Bith Cetificates for both of us (long form)

Passport style photos...mine was 2x2, but my husband's was Canadian size, and the lady said it was ok. We had 2 copies of each, but she only asked for one, and attached it to our G325's

Marriage certificates, and our divorce certificates from previous marriages.

I also had other stuff like joint bank account statements, mortgage papers, ets...which she never asked for.

I had made copies of everything, but didn't have to as she was going to make copies of everything herself. When I said I had copies she just took those from me...but only one copy of everything (birth certificates, etc)

She also asked to see our driver's license (can't remember if she made copies of them or not, it all went so fast)

I don't think you need 4 copies of everything, but it never hurts to take more than you need.

Also, you can pay by credit card, we did. They just send you over to another window to make the payment.

We were only in the consulate for about 15 minutes (after being taken upstairs). It went so fast that the lady forgot to get my husband's signature on one of the forms, so they had to courier it to us the next day. But they did include a prepaid enevelope to send it back. We kind of freaked out at first thinking we would have to make another trip back to Calgary just for a stupid signature.

It never hurts to take lots of info, I'm not sure if it makes a difference who is taking your paperwork. I just figured better to be safe andd have too much than get asked for something we couldn't produce.

We even bought an expresspost envelope while waiting to go up in the elevator ( I thought I read here that we needed one). But she said we didn't. We saw other people coming back down to get an envelope and sending it up with the guard. I guess it was for different types of visas. So I wouldnt worry about that unless they ask you for one.

All in all, it was a very easy process. We didn't get there until 11:00 am because our flight was delayed, and there was a huge lineup waiting to go up in the elevator (apparently someone had pulled with fire alarm and they had to evacuate the building and start all over again). Once we got up the elevator, we got put to the front of the line because my husband is an American citizen, and then there was practically no waiting for us.

Good luck, and I'm sure it will all be fine.
