Good afternoon fellow VJ members,

I know it's been a while since I posted any news on our petition. Please forgive me. I was literally beside myself when my fiance received the blue slip. I have to thank everyone here for their words of encouragement and support. You guys have been such a great help. Although I did not know this site existed when we first filed, I'm very glad I found it when I did.

I have learned so much from reading post after post. I even went back a couple of years to previous post and found something that answered my question. Thanks again VJ memebers. I have found my 2 nd Visa home (1st CFL ). I'm sure I will have a lot more questions as soon as my fiance and I are married and have started our life together here in the great state of Indiana.

Do you mind if I ask? What specifically did they want in your letter about your previous marriage that was not explained in your original submission? Thanks!

Thank you all for the congrats,

Yes I will be with my Little Sweet Honey Bun soon. She will fly in on Nov. 12. :dancing::dancing: I am so EXCITED !!! It has been a very long wait, but now we will be starting a new journey together. Joining two cultures will be a challenge I'm sure, but we have hundreds of of people here on VJ and CFL That we will call on for advice and support. I'm looking forward to hanging around here for years to come. There's two new members in town and their names are Cai xia and Randy R

To answer your question garfield529, They basically wanted me to explain to them when I met my ex-wife, how long we were married, if we had children together, where do the children live now, what were the circumstances that led to our divorce and how long were we separated before the divorce was final. I really think that all they really wanted to know was if my fiance was the cause of my divorce. So I sent them a very detailed letter about all this and had it notarized. Hope this answers your question.

Many Congrats to Cia and Randy !!

Thanks for your response to garfield529. It was helpful for me as well.

May I ask you and other members for some advice on a similar topic. I'm divorced and have a daughter who lives with my ex. When I submitted the I-129F petition in Sep 2009, I realized that there was no place anywhere in the forms, which asked my about details of divorce (other than just the date) or about kids. I wondered wouldn't USCIS wanna know more about me and my past.

And then I see this message from "Cai xia and Randy R". So I'm debating should I write a letter to USCIS describing how long I was married, why we got divorced and where is my daughter now...

1) Should I do that now, while my petition is pending?

2) Being proactive - can it harm / delay my case?

3) or should I wait till I get an RFE?

Plz advise.

Thanks

I don't think that USCIS is going to care about the details of the divorce as long as you meet the requirement of "legally able to marry." I feel that the letter would help at the embassy stage. After reading the response, I plan to draft a similar letter and have it notarized and added to our growing packet of embassy documents.
