I'm guessing then you probably weren't approved on the spot? Normally they can either approve you immediately at the interview or they take some time to review your case more and then send you the decision in writing. It seems like your case is the latter, no need to panic though, a lot of people aren't approved on the spot.

Don't worry, if they need something from you they will send an RFE. They don't just deny someone on the spot without really good reason and it's usually after the person has sent in additional evidence and USCIS has taken a good deal of time reviewing the case. How long has your case been set as being held for file review?

Ahh yes, that is the big question. Unfortunately there's really no concrete answer as it differs from case to case. Some people on here have had in approved within the same week of their interview while others have been waiting months. I hope your case is one that goes quickly! Give it 30 days about and if it still hasn't updated then you'll want to schedule and infopass appointment with your local office. I know 30 days seems like forever but USCIS loves to test our patience

Oh and just a little tip, you should fill in your timeline since it helps other VJers help you and answer you questions more efficiently
