for how many times we tried to cash my paychecks at walmart but always denied. they said my SS is not yet in the system and gave us a slip with Certegy # for inquiries.

I already have my EAD with validity from 09/10/09 to 09/09/10, my PA ID issued 10/17/2009 to 09/09/2010 my SS with DHS work authorization stamped on it. then, the Certegy gave us the equifax # to check my credit. open the equifax web and asked some questions in which i answered none of the above coz i don't have my mortgage yet, how can i have mortgage in 2006 when i just have my SS this year. although i entered the US last 2006, but i never had the guts to aplpy any, not even my extention of stay, because i am still under the spell of a culture shock! (or just being an ignorant :bonk: pinay)

i just posted this, qeeries with the hope that i can get any opinion on what to do or if any one had this problem before and can advise me.

Thanks and more power to all VJ users! :crying:

Hello,

Don't worry about Certegy- I don't know how to explain it, but I will try.

Certegy is a company which gave me some problems when I have to pay.

When you go to a store, this store (I don't know if it's the vast majority of store) is linked with some companies (like certegy) which control fraudulent activities.

Certegy has a lot of silly criterias to determine if your are a good customer, if for example your number check is 278 and you came the 21rst of october 2009, and that a lot of check was refused the previous years because of checks with the 278 number and worse  a lot were refused the 21rst of previous years or worse the 21rst of october of previous years- you are done.

They do some silly statistics and if you are unlucky and enter in their range of denial, your check will be refused, even if you have 10000 usd in your account. That happen to me, I had money on my account, but my check or my debit card was refused 2 times.

I do some research on internet, and found that there are a lot of people who have problems to pay because of certegy, even if they have enough money on their account.

Certegy proposed me to fill some forms, for me not to have those problems- I refused, they don't need my personal information!

It's not a question of SS, It's also linked to your credit history in usa according what I heard-but I read that some respectable us citizen has the same problem...

What is silly is that you can go the day after, at different hour and can buy what you want- because your hour of purchasing enters in the silly criteria of certegy.

The most silly thing is that a lot of respectable companies are working with certegy which uses a lot of silly criterias.

Do a research online on certegy, if you fill some forms from them, maybe they will ask you to pay some fees for them not to denial some of your check.

Good luck

In January 2008 my business partner bought a commercial property for $860,000 with 30% down with and rented out to our own business. In the following months we renovated it, spending over $132,000 cash of our own money. My FICO score (all 3 combined) is 806, and in case you don't know, that's pretty bitchin'.

Then, in April of 2008 I found exactly the office furniture I wanted for my personal office. It was a display set at Office Depot, much reduced from its original price. If memory serves me they reduced it from $1,799 to $999.

I committed to buy and wrote a check from the LLC account. The store refused it, based on CERTEGY electronically refusing to accept it. I showed the store manager that I wrote business checks from that very account in the amount of over $100,000 and that there was another $130K plus in the account at the time. Didn't work. They called CERTEGY while I was in their store, and it didn't work. I talked to one of their reps, and it didn't work. Had I not wanted this furniture set so badly, I would have left the store and showed them the middle finger. But so I had to go to the bank, withdraw cash and pay. All this, for furniture I paid for, but didn't pick up until days later.

CERTEGY? Whatever they do and do not means nothing, absofreakinlutely nothing.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

yes, i have a bank account, but since i am still new in the job, they prefer to mail my pay  check. well, if you need the money right away, it's better to cash it and deposit some to the bank in that way you're not waiting for clearing. that's why we end up trying walmart. and i wanted to really clear and straighten my info and reg with them coz i find them money gram cheaper at walmart.

anyway, thanks for your reply. everyone here at VJ really :innocent: cares.

Why don't you have a bank account? Would be much easier!

Can't remember the name of the company, but probably is the same one that wouldn't approve my check at Lens Crafters. I just said screw you and went to another store and paid cash. Lens Crafters gave a number to call the company and they wouldn't tell me why they wouldn't approve the check, Some secret formula they use was the story I was given. Said they would send me a form to fill out so that the next time it would go through. When I got the form I just tossed it in the trash. No way in hell I'm telling them my life story to just have them approve my check.
