Congrats Mal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!

Sorry, I meant a case complete in January...anyway, just checked as it's after 3pm EST, and still no invoice. I doubt I'll be staying up until 3am again, so that's me done for the day!

I know it's probably no consolation, but we got our invoices really late in the day on Friday of a holiday weekend (Labor Day, I believe). I paid the thing & was kind of annoyed that we'd probably have to wait the entire long weekend for it to show as PAID, but it actually went to "paid" over the weekend.

Married 2008

-------------------------------------------------------------------

5/21/09 - filed I-130

12/7/09 - Interview (denied for 28 yr old CIMT); filed waiver same day

6/18/10 - I-601 Waiver Denied, added misrep for checking wrong box on landing card (lifetime ban)

7/16/10 - AAO Appeal filed.

8/31/12 - AAO appeal sustained (THANK YOU, GOD FOR YOUR MERCY)

10/8/12 - USCIS sent file to Consulate

11/28/12 - Visa in hand

12/10/12 - HERE AT LAST! (ALL GLORY TO GOD!)

Thanks, it's good to know there's still hope even during a holiday week :)

I'm leaving behind 2 elderly parents who are both in poor health and a 12 year old autistic son. We all have to make tough decisions but it is our lives and we have to do what's right for us. I am moving from a country I love and you are leaving a city you love to go to an alien land. At least New England is similar to the UK but you are going somewhere totally different. How will you cope with all that sunshine and hardly any rain?

True, but that doesn't mean that we ignore the consequences our decisions have on others. And I'm sure that although they're sad to see you go, that your family are happy knowing that you're happy, knowing mine are makes it a little easier :)

Hehe considering a previous post of yours, I'm not sure how you'll cope in New England, perhaps you should have fallen in love with a Canadian and moved to Nova Scotia instead :P :P I have lived away from my beloved city before, but you're right, how will I manage with all that sunshine, and more importantly, the heat? The things we do for love, eh? :)

New England is so much better than the old one!

In April this year I had my bag stolen an hour after arriving in Boston. Everything was in it including my passport. I had to get an emergency passport from the consulate in Boston to get home. I phoned the consulate and got an American lady. She took my details and said someone would call me back. A little while later I got a call from an English guy. I have never been so relieved to hear an English accent! When you are in trouble in a foreign land it is very comforting to hear something from home. Even if they are English! The queen might be a waste of money but when I went in it was very nice to see the royal standard on the wall.

Diane was worried that I would never want to come back to America after that. It actually was the thing that made me sure I wanted to move. She had to work that day and I made the journey on 2 trains a bus and 4 subway trains to get there and back on my own and without any problems. It stopped making it feel like a strange scary place and became home.

One thing I did discover from it all was that the police are worse than useless and don't care at least the police officer we got was!

I'm leaving in the morning to go to Mass and I know I'm going to have the same problems I had the last time cos I can't check in online for the American flight and that happened the last time cos they have some kind of mark against my passport and nobody knows why!

Hello! I'm new here and new to VJ.

We first filed in May 2008 (yup, that's 2008), procastinated and now it's Nov 2009. LOL. Our case is at the NVC for the last year or so. We paid all the fees so now we're gathering all the documents for the AOS and DS-230 and hope to send it off by the end of this year.

Happy NVC journey, everyone! :-)
