I had no idea I had to submit my birth certificate to establish my father's relationship to me. I caught the mistake right after they acknowledged receipt and entry of my AOS and IV packets (Oct. 13th, 2009), and they received the additional packet on Oct. 16th, 2009. It's now been two weeks and they haven't even acknowledged receipt yet. I've spoken to supervisors, e-mailed the scanned copy of my birth certificate, called my Senator's Office--all for one stupid piece of paper that would take less than a minute to confirm. And there's no end in sight. I need a case complete so I can push for a December interview, but it seems like the NVC is determined to stymie me at every turn. I don't understand why I can't send this to a supervisor AS I SPEAK with them, have them check this off, and complete my case.

But I can't. I have to sit here, and wait while irreplaceable days pass, while people who submit their evidence after mine get shuttled through with no problems. (And I mean no disrespect to them, I am truly *happy* for everyone who makes it through this horrible process, I just wish my turn would come.)

I just wanted to rant for a while. It's been a rough week. :(

Spec, you're not alone. It is so disheartening to move through NVC at a snail's pace.

Thing is, some of those same people who got case complete fast will wait a long time for an interview.

We got our NOA2 quickly, only to slow down at the NVC.

Miss K and I have decided to hold hands in the dark corner of NVC. Would you like to join us? We could light candles. :D

thanks Spec. It is indeed the worst process in the world.

What was your second RFE for?

My first RFE was reviewed by a supervisor which took 15 business days (three weeks, yay). They determined that I must prove domicile prior to completing the case. So, I have been gathering documents to prove my intention to reestablish domicile in the US. I am waiting on my last piece of information and I will be able to send the last information in.

Hey Spec sorry to hear that, yes the NVC is incredible frustrating.

I started with the NVC early last month and finally ended with them on October 24th.. Took nearly 2 months... When it could have taken less time, maybe even 1 month and some days... why you ask??? Because I was a dumba$$ and forgot to include my wife's 2 passport photos along with her DS230 package. My mistake cost me 24 more dollars (USPS express courier service overnighter) and more painful days of waiting at the NVC. And all they could tell me on the phone was wait your turn.. even when they only needed to sift through some mail to find my package with only a cover letter and 2 pictures to complete my case... Painful painful painful. But I will say that if you email and put in the subject line Attention: Supervisor Sue you might get a prompt response as I did even if it is less than satisfactory you will be more informed than you were before. I hope this helps.. My mistake almost cost me my wifes interview date in November. We are trying to switch our K3 to CR1 visa interview and by having her CR1 package delivered and sitting at the USA embassy in Colombia we will be able to do it. Just takes crucial timing but we believe will be have it beat. GL and im sure you will make it!

Thanks for the kind words. I did send an e-mail to Supervisor Sue, and am waiting for her to respond to my submission of evidence.

I do know what you mean. Our stuff was received 10/9, and it took them until 10/27 to email the checklist we needed. Thank God I called & found out from the operator what was needed, or I'd just now be contacting my husband to go & get the required documents. As it is, he had to walk 13 miles into town to get the stuff, and then "Priority Mail" took 8 days to get it into my hands!

It's just crazy, this immigration business......I swear, if I'm not in an asylum by the time a visa is in hand, it'll be a miracle.
