CASE STATUS UPDATED TODAY, 10/29/2009

Here it's a strange situation...Just checked my I-485 status online. Nothing changed there, except 1 thing: there was an update on my case TODAY, but no email alerts, not text message alerts...

I changed my address online 2 days ago. Do you guys think that this update has to do with the address change only or could it be something else?

here is another thing that is says on the bottom of the page:

* Note on "Last Updated" date:

Your case may have a new "Last Updated" date and you may receive an Email and/or text message notification of your case being updated, without the status of the case changing. This is due to internal USCIS processing being performed on your Case. This will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date, but may not result in a different status message.

It may have to do with the address change but I think anytime anyone at USCIS deals with your case they put it on the online update. I did read somewhere on their website though that every update doesn't necessarily generate an e-mail/text so that's probably why you didn't receive one. If it's really driving you bonkers maybe you could call the customer service #?

I called USCIS but the operator couldn't tell me anything.

This is frustrating: I am waiting for my green card and in the same time I have to make sure that it arrives at the right address which I recently changed.

Any updates on my case are crucial. I can not believe that the operator was not able to tell me anything more than I see on the website, she couldn't even tell me what can I do to find out more. She was talking to me exactly like an automatic machine.

Could you maybe get an infopass appointment?... I read about it, you can schedule it on USCIS.gov for an appointment at your local office. Unlike the telephone people they actually can add info and give info on your case... I think! I don't know much about it as i'm just beginning the process, but i'm sure others do on here...

Good luck i totally sympathise - i'm already stressed and we've barely begun!

I guess that's the best thing I can do. I just didn't want to schedule an infopass too early (I did my biometrics on September 30th), I wanted to wait at least a month. I will do it though.

Either ways, Its a good thing. I have a feeling that you might hear soon about your Decision. They touch could be that they updated your address on file, or they are processing it in routine, that would lead to a decision. I have my fingers crossed. Right now, your main concern should be a decision. Doesn't matter if the GC doesn't get mailed to the right address. You can always get your PP stamped and place a request for a GC replacement. I am more worried about your early decision

Thank you for your encouraging message, Saspk. ...I just filled out the online change of address for my husband TODAY as we didn't hear anything about our I-130 yet and he is the main applicant for this form.

Well, I needed the I-130 receipt number for the address change and when I typed it in I noticed the I-130 has been touched online on 10/29/09!Finally!I was not able to see the status of this application until now.

Hmmm....it might not have anything to do with the change of address...
