My fiancee lives in Kenya. When it comes time to send her the complete package of documents I sent to the VSC for my K-1 application, I have noticed the guides say to send "Original" documents, whereas copies are acceptable for the K-1 application.

So I just want to review this. For the K-1 application I provided copies of my divorce decrees, a copy of my birth certificate proving U.S. Citizenship, copies of my passport pages showing Kenya visa, and entry and exit stamps, as well as copies of travel and lodging receipts to prove I traveled to her country. I also provided color photos of us together, taken in her country, some have names of lodges visible.

Now she already has a set of photos in an album, so am I correct that in addition to the complete photocopied K-1 application, I need to send her originals (or certified copies) of my Divorce decrees, Birth Certificate, and Originals of all the travel and lodging receipts? I am not inclined to send my U.S. passport, would I have to?

I know I will also have to send the I-134 and support documents. I prepare my own taxes, so I can just print out and sign my last tax return, or last 2. I will also get a letter from my bank, and provide a financial statement of net worth, as my income is borderline, but I have money in the bank and lots of real estate.

welcome Gene

Once you recieve NOA2 you will have to send her copies of your evidence to proove your have an ongoing relationship. Anything like chat logs, phone call logs, you dont need to send your copy of divorce certificate. The embassy will need to see an ongoing relationship , that what my husband sent to

me.

Ypou dont need to send originals for the embassy , copies will work just fine.

Good luck. should you need any information, we are here to assist.

Have a Blessed day.

The reason the guides say to send original documents (to your fiancee, NOT to the embassy) is that the consular officer can ask to see the originals of any document you've provided. They usually don't, but they have the right to ask.

Send copies to the embassy—don't send originals unless specifically required by the instructions. Under no circumstances should you send your actual passport.

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.

My original intent was to say "to fiancee", not "to embassy".

Hi Gene

I clicked on send before typing my message!

To the embassy you send "exact photocopies of unaltered documents" of divorce decrees and birth certificate/passport, air ticket when petitioning for fiance visa i.e with the I-129 forms.

You will send to your fiance I-134, of support, receipts of hotels, pics (which she already has) and other proofs of your relationship but not your original passport. When she gets the package from the embassy it will have a list of all the documents required for her interview. All the best.
