My fiance and I are looking for a better phone card plan. He doesn't have a land line for me to call him on (he's in the UK), just his cell phone. The rates for calling a cell versus a land line are signifigantly higher! Anyone got a good plan for calling a cell phone in the UK? Would appreciate any help.

Thanks!

Bethany

Tell him to call you. I use a phonecard called Euro City that costs £3.50 for 600 minutes to landline and 400 to moblie/cell phones.

I've een using this make for over a year and the quality is really good.

My fiance has an internet phone which costs him 30 cents per minute to call my mobile, I'll try and find out which service he is using....

I always used IDT global calling when hubby was in the UK it is 10 cents a min regardless of cell or landline.. the only problem they don't gaurentee the calls to cell.... this means that sometimes the connection isn't the greatest or you can't get thru... but it isn't very often. I used the card for 5 years and we still use it now to call his kids back in the UK.

Here is the link if you want to give it a go. http://www.idt.net/

ANother good thing is you can set up an account online and recharge it in seconds.

Hope this helps,

Patricia

I am not sure how cheap it would be to the uk but it cost me 2.5 cents a min to call the USA from australia whether it was cell or landline, with daybreak.once you get that one you can call cust serv to get onto vip talk tomato and that lowers your rates to 1.5cents p/m.The absolutely beautiful part of that is you can d/load call statements from the web AND it is accepted same way a phone bill would be.Just from experience but once again....worth looking into to.

I'm pretty sure that Vonage charges extra for calls to mobile phones...you must read the fine print!

My fiance calls me from the UK on his mobile, as its much cheaper for him to call me. He has O2 pay as you go and it costs him 3P a minute to call my landline. There was a one-time "bolt on" fee of 5 quid.

I also have Verizon's unlimited calls to the UK land lines and if I have to call his mobile, they charge me 28 cents a minute.

Vonage will allow you to talk to the UK, FREE!

So to speak if you sign up for one of there service plans

Which amounts to like 10 quid so long as you have a bb connection

not if you enable call diversion...you could change it at will online if you need to get his celly & it's still free for you, yet I think 10p a min for him. Great for when he's out and you need to get a hold of him though

Try Skype. All you need is a computer and a headset and you can call your beloved's skype ID for free and chat away, or add some credit to your account and call any number you want for next to nothing. landlines are 0.02cents give or take, to the UK and that's what I use all the time to call home. I can't imagine cell phones costing much more than that to call.

Just yesterday I was online with my brother for half an hour skype to skype and it didn't cost us a penny.

gotta love technology
