Hello VJ family members,

I really, really need everyone's HELP on this. This is my dilemma. After I payed our AOS bill $70, I read the cover sheet and it said that I needed to follow the Affidavit of Support Processing Instructions and that I MUST RETURN THAT COVER SHEET with my completed forms and supporting documents. So I did. I figured out what I-864, I qualified for (I-864EZ), I attached the cover sheet and this Monday, off it went via USPS Express mail and it was delivered yesterday at 10am. NOW, today @ exactly 4:48pm, I received an email from the NVC informing me that they had just received my AOS fee payment (which by the way posted on 10-15-09 via the Dept. of State website)!!! And they just now send me this letter!? What concerns me is that they attached a slightly different, new cover sheet that now, they say must be attached to my I-864EZ packet or else it will cause delays.

Here is where I went wrong and please correct me if you think it is not a big deal. First of all the COVER SHEET they sent me today has a slightly different address than the one I used. I sent my packet to the address on my first cover sheet: National Visa Center, Attn: CMR AOS, 32 Rochester Avenue, Portsmouth, NH 03801-2909. The address they have on the cover sheet they emailed me today is: National Visa Center, Attn: CMR, 31 Rochester Avenue, Suite 200, Portsmouth, NH 03801-2909. So if you can see, there is not much difference.

The other thing where I went wrong is where it states that ALL documents in the packet must contain the case number in the upper right hand corner. OMG! I did not write it on the I-864EZ because I felt it was such a legal document that maybe I should leave that one alone but I was so careful to write it on all the other documents. However, on some documents I could not write it on the right hand side corner because the document did not allow much space for me to write it, so I either wrote it on the left hand side corner or in the middle of the document.

What do you guys think? Did I mess up so bad that I can almost bet on an RFE? I called the NVC immediately and spoke to a nice woman there, who told me to relax. That as long as I attached one of the cover sheets to the packet our case will still get processed. She said they expanded in their building adding a few more addresses but that none the less, my packet will make it to the right department. But before I could tell her about what I did on my packet with either not writing the case number on the I-864EZ form itself, or writing it not always on the right side hand corner, she hung up.

PLEASE help me. What should I do. Call the NVC back again? Do what she said and give the I-864 packet time to make it to the right office? Will this waste more time and delay our case even further? Or should I send them an entire and copy of my I-864 packet again to the write address?

Thank you.

Liz

Thank you but I still will worry until I hear from the NVC. I will continue to call them to get a status. Regarding checking the tracking that is not a problem. It was delivered and signed for by the NVC on Tuesday this week at 10am. The problem right now is that they have not touched it / processed it. So until they do, I will continue to worry and go crazy!

What do you mean by you were perfect? If you did not follow the NVC instructions on this, how can you say you were perfect? Do you mean that even though you did not write the case number on ALL the documents on the upper right hand side corner, that the NVC approved your packet?

Hi it was not on the guidelines. The instructions came from the NVC. When I received the cover sheet today by an email message from them, it clearly states that if we do not write our case number on every document, our case will be delayed in the processing.

I still hope you are right and that they accept my packet as it is.

Thank you.

Lizz it will be fine. I didnt put the case number on the sheets for the I-864 and it was approved in about a week or so with no RFEs. I didnt read to do that until after I had submitted the forms so I just did it for the IV packet. Also as long as you used the cover sheet that you printed out after the payment was approved then you are good to go. Just try to relax and I promise in a week or so you will hear the AVR reflect that your AOS papers have been received. I was just like you at the AOS phase and felt confused and was worried I didnt fill out the paperwork like I should have but I promise that you more than likely filled everything out correctly and will get no RFEs inshallah. Keep me posted on what happens.
