My wife had her medical exam for her fiancee visa done in Sept. 2008 prior to her being issued her fiancee visa. When we arrived in Minnesota in April 2009, we had her vaccination report card transcribed by a USCIS approved Civil Surgeon. We of course didn't need the full medical exam and sent the I-693 with the proper sections filled out by the Civil Surgeon along with our other forms for our AOS application.

Everything was going smoothly and we got her EAD, and AP and a notice that our case was transferred to the California Service Center to speed up the process. However, I received an email notice on Oct. 20th that we will get an RFE soon. Today we finally received that RFE for an incomplete I-693 and it states that they didn't receive any medical report of my wife having a Tuberculosis, Aids, or Syphillis tests. Of course she had blood tests for these during her medical exam in Jakarta in Sept. 2008.

My guess is that the USCIS doesn't want to take time to cross reference our medical exam report which has this information already filled out, or have conveniently lost it. I have heard this time and time again. Which is the real truth here, do they not trust the medical blood tests done overseas? I assume we have no choice but to march in to our Civil Surgeon again and have him complete this part of the medical and transcribe our vaccination report card again.

Silly thing is the RFE doesn't tell us that our medical exam is lost or we have to have the entire exam again, but rather, get the blood tests for the above items. I guess that really is the whole medical exam anyway, besides updating a few vaccines.

Please advise us on the proper step to take and I just want to thank everyone for our journey thus far. Your help has proven invaluable to us. I would advise newbies to wait for the medical exam to be done in the U.S.

Take care & God Bless you all,

Jeff & In-In

USCIS has been known to completely misplace medical examination reports. It is interesting that they are only asking for these tests which begs the question, do they have the rest of the medical information and this is all that is missing? Regardless, the best thing to do with an RFE is to provide the information that is missing even if it does mean repeating - or refiling - information that they have already received. So, yes, go to a Civil Surgeon and have him complete the requested tests and provide the information on an I-693, ask for a copy for your own records, then return the originals - with the original RFE letter - (make a copy of that too) by a trackable mailing process to the stated address. If you wanted to you could redo the whole medical (check and see what the cost differences are) for added peace of mind.

Good luck.

They probably lost part of the records. Consider yourself lucky, they lost my daughters whole medicals so we had to completely redo them.
