Director of USCIS, Alejandro Mayorkas, gave an press conference today in Chicago. Among things discussed was a budget shortfall due to a drop in the number of applications for immigration benefits. He stated that there are three options

1) Ask Congress for more money.

2) Reduce costs at USCIS

3) Fee increase for immigration services

He went on to stress that the fee increase would not be across the board, rather for particular services. I have a feeling my wife is going to be paying more for lifting conditions in two years from now and for citizenship in three years.
