As of 10:00 am this morning, Nani is a US citizen. The ceremony was nice and fairly fast (~2 hours) even though they had to accomodate a huge crowd - we had well over 1,000 people in attendance to naturalize just over 400 individuals. I thought this would be a somewhat smaller crowd seeing that they apparently hold the oath ceremonies on a monthly basis in Tampa - the last one was on 28 September.

Largest contributing country, as you'd expect in S. FL, was Cuba, followed by Mexico and India. Nani was the only Ethiopian in the party and one out of just three Africans - the other two were from Eritrea and Nigeria, respectively.

Well, we're done with the USCIS. :D

Congrats! My wife got her citizenship in summer 2008. My stepdaught can file in December, but not sure if she can afford it.

March 7, 2005: I-129F NOA1

September 20, 2005: K-1 Interview in London. Visa received shortly thereafter.

AOS

December 30, 2005: I-485 received by USCIS

May 5, 2006: Interview at Phoenix district office. Approval pending FBI background check clearance. AOS finally approved almost two years later: February 14, 2008.

Received 10-year green card February 28, 2008
