I have absolutely no problem with celebrities earning high powered salaries. Whether they're Hollywood or music industry stars, pro athletes, Wall St. CEOs, whiz kid quants with a great algo trade .... if the market will bear their price, and they can negotiate that 7 or 8 figure contract --- more power to them. This is America. Dream your dream, live your dream. I bear no ill will to them.

However, this is America. Land of personal responsibility. Or at least - that's the theory. If you blow your fortune, tough titties. No sympathy from me.

I agree completely, if the market is willing to pay out this money it's only because these player generate enough revenue to justify such payroll (as it were).

The part I find crazy is: after this guy has blown all these millions and end up broke he can then turn right around and collect off the public dole.

Some years ago I had a friend who made very good money and spent it just as fast.

When he had a falling-out with his main source of business, and his wife was pregnant, he applied for and got nearly free medical care as well as Wick, and perhaps food stamps (IIRC).

Another couple at that same exact time also was was expecting, they rejected their application because he had managed to save a few thousand dollars on his hourly wage.

This is how the system works, "income" is the determining factor at the time of application.
