It should be fine. I was on a month to month without a written lease and had lived there for 8 years. My landlady owned a number of buildings but was really easy to deal with. I actually never gave her anything in writing. I let her know I was moving well in advance and told her I would give her the 2 month notice when I knew the final date. Then, when I gave her the notice I asked if I could stay one week into the next month and just pay for that week instead of the whole month because we were leaving on the 7th. She said, sure - no problem! She said I was a good tenant and she was sorry to see me go. I had arranged for a cleaning service to come in and clean the apartment after the movers had taken everything out (I was already in the US and had a friend meet them). My landlady canceled the cleaning service and sent me back the money I had left for them. She said she was going to remodel so it seemed pointless to pay to have it cleaned when it would just get messed up with the remodel.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I think it should be fine too. My landlord really likes me, there's only one other person in the building that's been here longer than me. And she's the one that came over and called varba names the other day.

I've never broken any rules or been late on my rent.
