Simple Male,

I have already turned in my I-864 and the DS-230. Although I did received the old form I-864 in the mail. I used the new one after some research on the above referenced USCIS sites. I found it so more understandable.

Oh my God, What was I thinking! We're doomed! :crying:

Anyhooo, my spouse has been begging that I use James' shortcuts and who can blame the poor bloke.

I'll let you all know as soon as I hear anything and we'll know what may or may not work even though this seems a completely arbitrary process.

Keep the faith.

I would be extrememly surprised if you get an RFE or rejection for using the most recent form.

right.. the new I-864 was on the USCIS website and the old one was on the US Embassy for London website.. I have noticed that now both websites contain the new form, so maybe we will start to the the new one issued.. (depending on your country)

'Plus the instructions also ask to submit the most recent year's tax return.'

Is that the actual copy of tax return, or will the transcript be enough? Sorry, i'm sure this has already been addressed elsewhere, but in the light of all this new form/old form confusion i'd like some clarification.

We also received the old I-864, but with instructions that say it does not have to be notarised (although did anyone else think this was very sneakily put it only one line of the instructions, with hardly any fanfare, so it could be easily missed?!). So i guess we will follow your lead, simple male.....

Tim,

Tax transcript from IRS will suffice it? Did you get it from IRS?

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

Yes. Well, we have asked for it - it hasn't arrived yet! But, hey, what's one more delay...? Grumble, grumble...

This is what you can do to get the IRS transcript right away. Call them while you are in front of a fax machine, that way, they can fax them to you right away and confirm that you receive the fax. The instructions are:

Call 1-800-829-1040. Then option 2, 2 (enter your Social Security Number), 4, then hold for an operator to speak live. Ask for last 3 years (2003, 2004, and 2005) in order to have them with you, in case. But you are required to send only 2005's. Good Luck and let us know, if it works.

I hope you are right, Aussie. I've really been stressing over my decision. Just you saying that makes me feel better.

Yes you can send a IRS transcript and make sure to include a copy of W-2 and any other supporting schedules .

Let's hope, you all don't get any RFE for sending the new I-864. I have had the new I-864 ready, but I decided to send the old one because I still have to send the DS 230 part I, once it is generated (looks like next Monday) and therfore doing so would not have saved any time for me. I received the old I-864 on Monday and filled it out immediately and express mailed it on Tuesday. I had all other documents ready prior to receiving the I-864.
