You didnt fail.. you just didnt pass yet, there is a big difference... get everything they want exactly... be sure that you provide them with each item listed on the blue paper they provided at the interview.

Dont let this get you down as it is VERY COMMON...

Like Scott said, you didn't fail. This is the typical paperwork dance that the consulate in HCM puts you through. Many people with long and well documented relationships and few red flags still end up going through this. You aren't denied until you get a notice specifically saying you are denied and your petition is being sent back to USCIS.

The part I bolded above is a different twist, though. They often ask for a list of the beneficiary's relatives living in the US, along with detailed info about each, but I don't recall ever seeing a request for a list of relatives that live with the petitioner. Are they asking about your relatives that live with you, or are they asking about beneficiary's relatives? I'm just wondering what the angle is here - what are they suspecting? If you were divorced then they might be suspicious that you are still living with your ex-wife, but they'd come straight to the point and ask for proof of where your ex-wife lives. Maybe they think you didn't list all of your dependents on the I-134.

Curious...

@bn010809 - Can you scan/post a copy of your blue slip?

I just scanned my first blue "RFE" slip (what you got...) and saved it under "My Photos." I also have a copy of the 2nd blue "AP" slip, our pink "Approval" slip, and a copy of the US Visa.

Yep, you're the petitioner.

That's an odd one. I can't imagine what they're digging for here. They're not asking for a list of your relatives, per se. They're asking for a list of everyone you live with. Maybe a public records check (which they WILL do) came up with other names at the same address that caused them to suspect something. Dunno. All I can suggest is to prepare the list with the information requested, sign it in front of a notary, and submit it. I can't really suggest anything additional you could provide that would address the red flag because I don't know what red flag they have in mind.

Question.

I know people have said that they went with their fiance/e to submit additional documents. I'm not sure if you have to go at the specific days and times that they allow petitioners to speak with a CO. Someone with personal experience will have to help with this.

It's not required, but if they need more time, they'll ask the beneficiary to submit it. One of the VJ petitioners "frontloaded" this info by stating in a notarized statement (which was a part of their timeline) that the beneficiary did not have any relatives in the US.

good tips on the relative affidavit...

do you happened to know the wording to this notarized statement?

I might also add that i am living by myself in this household...just in case it might come in their background investigation.

This is my version of the affidavit regarding relatives and living alone....

To whom It May Concern:

I, TRAN, LINH TUONG, a citizen of the United States of America, I am the fiancé of TRINH, NGAN NGOC. The following is a sworn affidavit documenting the timeline of our relationship from March 1, 2009 to present.

I currently reside ALONE at XXXXXXX. In addition, to the best of my knowledge, my fiancé does not have any relatives currently living in the United States of America.

I affirm under the penalties for perjury that the following documentation is true and accurate.

I tried to search for that timeline but couldn't find it...it went something like this:
