I agree about the muscle/fat thing. I've been steady working out and watching what I eat for a month now. I haven't lost much weight but (as I said before) I have lost a whole size in clothing. I don't care how much I weigh as long as I look and feel good.

 thats the way to do it.

I love to lift weights. Lifting (aerobic) also burns more calories than anaerobic and is great for people suffering from bone loss (osteoporosis) . I have gained weight but at the same time i have dropped inches off my gut. Val works out w/me sometimes and she also is taking a bellydancing class once a week. A day or so after her class she complains of soreness. It's a tough workout she says.

I just joined the gym a couple of weeks ago and will have my 3 PTlessons hopefully this month. I will try to sign up for it this month because its just 99$ for 3 lessons.

I'm usually doing an hour on the elyptical machine and then 20 minutes on the bike. Its weired because on the eliptical thing I have problems to keep my pulse down. On the bike, which I do after it its no problem. Well I hope to find out more from the trainer.

I havent done weights yet because I need to be careful with my back.so I have to ask the trainer what exactly I can do and what I shouldnt. One of the girls at the fitnesstudio recommended on trainer who is specialized in trainings with people who have backproblems.

So I will tell you how it worked out as soon as I know :)

@moody I tried that link you send me but honestly I have no idea how to join.

Hey hey can I brag here?

I lost 10lbs! Yeah that's not a whole lot, but for me it is!! It took me a couple months though. I am not down a clothing size, I think I'll need to lose another 5-10lbs for that to happen. I don't know if it's because I am 5'7" and so it takes longer for a big enough layer of fat to come off to actually need a smaller clothing size. :P

i always tell my fiance that i'll be cooking us healthy food and etc and no more fry food for him and he gets mad at me and tell him not to play like that with him when it comes to food

he's a big guy and he's very tall but he does NOT look like he carries the weight that he does....he's got braod shoulders and bit of a gut ( or beer belly whatever you want to call it and he doesn't drink beer at all) but he doesn't think he needs to loose weight and etc which i agree he might not need to loose anythng but eating healthy wouldn't hurt anyone so for me loosing weight would be harder because i wouldn't get any support or motivation from him. He loves me the way i am and doesn't think i need to loose weight......when i complain to him that i need to stop eating chocolate he keeps telling me " eat it as much as you like and don't deprive yourself you live only once" so how can i ever loose weight with that supoort? lol

but yeah, it's all about will power and you have to be mentally ready for it!!!

I just wanted to say well done to everyone making improvments!

I didn't read the entire thread...I was feeling lazy  But I want to join in.

When I was younger I was a chunker, I lost ALOT of weight, was really skinny and then gained some, and then yo-yoed about 10lbs all the time.

When I was back in theUK waiting to come here I was working and depressed about not being with my guy so I did exericse alot and didnt eat much and lost alot of weight and then before the wedding I was terrible, ate out and chocolate and all kinds right before and dropped sooo much weight just from the stress!

I gained a couple of lbs, but not much and I'm fighting it again. I think its good I cannot drive over here yet - it means I HAVE to walk!

I've always struggled with being overweight. And while my SO says I am perfect the way I am, I want to lose 20lbs. I started working out at curves. I've actually gained a pound (they tell me it's because muscle weighs more than fat) but I've lost a few inches. I'm hoping the loss will continue.

in march of 2006 i hit 267 lbs - at 5 9.

by november of 2006, i was below 190. right now, i hover in the low 180's. i've stopped excercising - temporarily - need to get back to the gym. plan on it soon here. next week. goal is to get in the low 170's, maybe even 167. why not even it off at a complete 100 lbs?

My mother has had a lot of luck at Curves. Since early September -- right after I got engaged, actually -- she's been going faithfully, and at her most recent weigh-in and measurement taking, she's lost nine inches and about nine pounds (which, for a 138 pound woman, is respectable.) Curves is slower going but it's stable and the weight seems to stay off.

Good for you!!! exercise and a sensible diet?

Good job to everyone who is losing!

I have lost 13lbs over the past couple months. It's slow going, but at least I am doing it. Finally. I am still nowhere near skinny(and actually I don't want to be "skinny"), but I am planning to continue to lose until I get pregnant (hopefully soon!). Of course I could never put my weight amount here though.

I am trying hard to lose weight too, since I am a diabetic. Couple that with PCOS and it's dam near impossible! Just today my endocrinologist's PA prescribed Byetta, which works along with the Metformin that I already take. One major plus to this Byetta (which is an injection), it's an appetite suppressant. She has one patient that has already lost 50 lbs. Right now I can use all the help I can get, not that I have a problem with food (as in not being able to resist). Joel and I are vowing to get back into our walking routine too. We don't eat fried foods and to be honest, I don't miss them. Right now, weight loss is a health issue rather than wanting to lose weight to be smaller, but I sure ain't gonna complain about being smaller! :)

Congrats Melo! Weight loss is never easy but when you're successful at it, it's an awesome feeling!

everytime my guy visits me here, i end up gaining weight (ice cream at night, cookies, etc)

but when he leaves i start losing it again slowly, trying to lose some now as i was just recently told i have high blood pressure. i try to walk during my lunch hour, trying to find new places to go even if just walking an extra 6-7 blocks to go to the deli farther away rather than going to the deli closer to work

what will i do when he's here for good!

I want to lose about 8-10 pounds. This week I have started walking at least 30 min to an hour. We'll see what that does for me in a few weeks. I sit at work all day long for 8 hrs and then I come home very late with not much time for any ting. My life style is very sendentry. Honestly I get tired of sitting that i have to get up so that my bum wont hurt from the non movement. Any ways I recently been looking at threads that recomend work outs. I have been doig some research and lots of people are raving about the Slim in 6 work out. Has any one here tired it? Im really tempted to get the work out dvds but I wanted more feed back. Im trying to figure out which work out is better for me the power 90 or the slim in six. Has any one here had any experince with beachbody work out products? Here is the link:
