The most reliable information comes from the website of the US embassy in your country since each consulate has a slightly different procedure.

I just checked the US embassy Egypt webpage and found their DCF guide.

http://cairo.usembassy.gov/consular/iv003.htm

Read the guide and other visa related pages thoroughly and if you still have questions, people on VJ would be willing to help you.

Yes you need the petitioner's birth certificate

No, you don't need your educational credentials

Yes, you can take the medical now. It is good for 6 months.

I have read that one should be careful on posting information such as the medical exam without being 100% certain of what the Consulate will accept. I know some will only accept it if you have received an ok from the consulate to take this step. I would be very careful before doing this. You should verify with your particular consulate first.

This is just my opinion. If I am wrong, someone plz clarify this. I just think it would be wise that we do our homework before we start taking steps that we have not received the ok to do...

Have you called to make the appointment with the Embassy yet? The Embassy willl answer all of your questions at that point.

The I-130 directions tell you what recordes to submit with the I-130.

Do NOT do the medical now. If the I-130 is approved, the Embassy will send an envelope to your husband. That envelope will include a list of approved doctors, the only doctors that can do the medical exam. The exam is only valid for six months. Do not do the exam before because you don't know when your husband will interview. Cairo isn't an easy Embassy to get through and it's pointless (and potentially costly) to make assumptions. Instead, take it one step at a time, first by printing and reading the I-130, then calling the Embassy to make your appointment.

Doesn't your husband know which suburb of Cairo you live in to tell you?

We did a DCF thru Cairo. You cannot get your medical before your I-130 is approved. Once it is approved, there will be a case number. This case number has to appear on your medical results when given back to the embassy. Also you must have a doctor on the approved list given to you by

the embassy.

There are NO provinces in Egypt. Call the embassy if you are in doubt and they can answer

your questions.

Good luck!
